A single moving 360° shot is accompanied by a composition of ambisonic sounds to create a multi-sensory journey, travelling between two bridges. The various segments of the drive determine the musical structure of the spatial audio, featuring an aesthetic progression from Classical motifs and instruments to Electronic features and structure, together with retro effects and soundscape elements. Individual sounds, instrument tracks, and their corresponding placements also signify a visual element or emotion inspired by the cityscape and driving experience. For instance, the repetition of a heavy pulsating bass, kick drum and arpeggios from strings and synthesisers, mirror the perpetual motion of passing vehicles and city lights. The work further integrates digital editing and mixing of sounds from the Peter Vogel CMI Pro iPad application, as well as archival and onsite field recordings related to the urban environment. Overall, ‘North-West’ facilitates a synergetic experience for the spectator in which the spatial audio and virtual image simultaneously generate an interactive journey. Genre Electronic
