Statement of Teaching Philosophy

The engineering education system in India mainly focuses on producing engineering graduates to implement operate and manage the growing industry. Therefore my vision as an engineering educator is to produce exceptional engineering graduates who are industry-ready and have engineering skills such as designing, planning, collaboration, and troubleshooting.

Presently as an engineering educator to achieve my Vision of making students industry ready my contributions are as follows

  • Making students understand the core of the concept so that students can relate the studied topics to real-life scenarios.

  • Every time I teach a new topic either I will ask or tell the students later where it can be applied.

  • Guiding and motivating the students to involve in doing more projects related to the topic and come up with prototypes.

  • Providing Additional bridge courses or workshops on topics most required in Industry.

As per the vision stated above the success depends on the placement of students and their ability in clearing competitive exams. Also, success depends on how our students perform in the industry. Even though the No of Students getting placed in the department is fair. The goal of an educator should be 100% placement of students.

In this perspective, I feel that the prescribed syllabus less focuses on engineering skills such as designing, planning, creating, and troubleshooting. So I can contribute more by imparting skills to students in engineering education. This can be achieved by:

  • Providing Hands-on training or workshops on the latest trends in the field

  • Motivating the students to do mini-projects so that they can self learn the skills required in the industry.

AREAS IN WHICH I NEED TO IMPROVE MY SKILLS AS AN EDUCATOR

  • Course Design: I have to design the course in a way that the Content in the course is updated and contains the relevant information.

  • Course delivery:

  • Motivating Students

  • Research Publications and Conference

HOW AM I WORKING TO IMPROVE MY SKILLS AS AN EDUCATOR

Course Design: The design of the course requires proper planning of the Course content for the entire semester. Once the course is assigned. I will

  • Create the Course Page in Canvas LMS. The contents for the Canvas LMS are prepared at the beginning of the semester itself. Assessment tools such as graded and quiz and discussions, Assignments, and Activities for using modern Tool are prepared in advance.

  • To deliver the content in an effective manner I will use Active learning strategies such as Think pair share, In-class team, Jigsaw, STAD, etc.

  • Dedicating separate contact hour for students on every Thursday 4.00 pm-5.00 pm

  • Mentoring and motivating students to gain engineering skills.

  • Motivating the students to Complete online and Add-on Courses.

  • Being part of Research activity by collaborating with Co faculty members and trying to participate in conferences.

My immediate and long term plans for achieving my professional and personal goals.

My Immediate Goals:

  • To Encourage students to obtain engineering skills by doing hands-on projects.

  • Providing Real-life examples or real-life situations for all the topics they learn.

My Long Term Goal:

  • Motivate the students to take part in online and Add-on Courses

  • Actively participate in Research activities with students
