{A Bouquet Round Up!}: And Palettes to Coordinate!

There are many ways you can use color to bring your wedding to life. One of my favorite ways is through your wedding bouquets. Looking back at when I was planning my own wedding, I remember meeting with my florist to discuss what I'd like our florals to look like.

And being the overly prepared bride-to-be that I was, I admittedly came to our meeting with a good handful of inspiration boards that I had created that included images of my dream bouquet. Yep, I was THAT bride.

Doesn't every bride have a dream bouquet? I sure did! Of course I hesitated about bringing my color boards to my florist because I feared she would think I was a tad on the crazy side. But surprisingly she actually was so appreciative and relieved to have a visual to go off of. She actually said that more often than not, brides would come unprepared and she liked that I had a vision. Boy, did I have a vision...

So that's my first tip for all of you. Do a little research. Start saving photos that capture the look you're going for. Because ultimately, there are a lot of things to consider when it comes to choosing your bridal bouquets. Besides the fact you know you want pink incorporated somehow, you definitely want to remember that your bridal bouquets give you the opportunity to make a statement.

What sort of statement do you want your bouquets to make? Are you looking to soften your bridal attire? Or maybe you want to make a bright bold statement? Are you going for a modern look? Or more of a vintage timeless look? Knowing what kind of statement you want your flowers to convey is definitely important and should be communicated to your florist early on in the process if at all possible.

Often times a bride tries to match her flowers to her bridesmaid dresses. But let me just tell you... a bridesmaid in a fuchsia gown with fuchsia flowers will make for very disappointing pictures. Flowers are a great place to choose an accent color -- for example, pale pink blooms against a fuchsia gown will bring out the best in both colors and make for fabulous photos. Create a little depth by going with shades of one color.

Another thing you don't want to forget is to include florals in your overall budget. Having a budget decided upon will allow your florist to know exactly what she has to work with and ultimately it will help everyone to be on the same page.

Also something to keep in mind is that you should order your flowers early. Always remember, flowers come from all over the world, so it is very hard to contact farms across the world and have flowers arrive within one or two weeks. Leave at least a six-week window ahead of your wedding week to be able to line everything up. Also your flowers will be cheaper if you can give your florist adequate time to order.

One of my absolute favorite ways to make a wedding bouquet stand out as unique is to wrap the bouquet with various colored ribbons, fabric or even burlap! As you can see from these photos, depending on your choice of color, texture and fabric width, so many different looks can be achieved.

One of my all time favorite bouquets is this lovely bouquet of Anemones, Sweet pea and Lilies of the Valley. Aren't you just loving how this bouquet seems to fit effortlessly into this color palette?

And see how wonderful the contrast is above with the black gown and the white bouquet? I really love when a bouquet contrasts the overall ensemble like this.

Looking for a sweet and romantic bouquet? Peonies are definitely the flower to go with! I personally love how feminine they are plus they've just always been one of my favorite flowers.

Oh, and not all bouquets have to be made with actual flowers. Getting married in the Winter and want to incorporate a pine cone theme? Anyone else loving this pine cone bouquet?

Another thing to consider is the fact that varying size blooms can really make a fun statement. Take this bouquet for example above. I love how the tiny daisies stand out against the larger blooms.

And just look at this gorgeous bouquet. Again, the varying sizes, colors, shapes and textures really give this bouquet it's uniqueness that I love. And finally, this bouquet of all white blooms really does make such a pretty statement. I can imagine this bouquet looking absolutely perfect against a light green bridesmaid gown!

So there you have it! I hope you enjoyed seeing some of my favorite bouquets along side just a few of the color palettes from my collection.

One little piece of advice I will share is that after you've communicated your vision to your florist, including your hopes, your likes and your dislikes...I would recommend that you try your hardest to trust your florist. And if by chance you find yourself completely worried about how your florals will turn out, why not ask your florist if they offer a service where they are able to create a mock bouquet or centerpiece? Perhaps knowing that your florist is on the same page will give you peace of mind. So tell me, what is your idea of the perfect bridal bouquet? And am I the only one who has taken an inspiration board to meet with a vendor? Oh, how I miss those fun filled days of planning!
