culdoscope

An examining instrument used to inspect the female pelvic organs. It is passed through the vagina and then through a perforation in the cul-de-sac (FORNIX) behind the CERVIX into the pouch behind the womb. Pelvic endoscopy is now more commonly performed through the abdominal wall (LAPAROSCOPY).
