UCI World Champion Gaia Tormena put in another incredible run after setting the fastest time in the qualifying time trial. With two consecutive wins, the Italian rider proved herself completely unstoppable as she claimed the top spot during qualifying by 2,5 seconds. Sweden’s Ella Holmegard slipped away during the qualifying time trial but was somehow the strongest in the final sprint among Tormena.

Hugo Briatta on a winning strike

UCI World Cup leader Hugo Briatta was the rider to beat in the men’s eliminator this season. Today he was the clear winner, finishing solo ahead fellow French rider Titouan Perrin-Ganier. With one lap remaining Hugo Briatta made his big move and went clear of UCI World Champion Titouan Perrin-Ganier and Dutch champion Jeroen van Eck who quickly dropped back to third place. Sweden’s Anton Olstam finished in fourth place.

Ella Holmegard wins a thrilling final round

The pressure was off as Gaia Tormena headed into the final heat having already secured the overall win. However, the Italian showed no signs of taking it easy during the finals, nearly missing out her fourth UCI World Cup win. The only rider who was able to put a dent in Tormena’s winning streak was Ella Holmegard. The Swedish rider who took the win at Round 4 in Valkenswaard, saw her winning again in the final round in Graz. Rounding out the podium was Ukraine’s champion Irina Popova and German rider Clara Brehm.
