Simtropolis Challenges - Season 3 Logo

Results Announced Here!

Railroads
Show a railroad scene featuring a train
Season 3 - Challenge #16 - Weekly (7 days)

Thanks to @philforhockey51 for the challenge idea.

"Platform 1, for the 23:31 Simtropolis Express service to Long Shore. Calling at: Fairview, Timbuktu, Green Plains, Cabbageville, Maxisland and Long Shore. This train is formed of 12 coaches."

Over the years, even with advancements in technology, trains and railroads have principally remained the same since their invention in the 19th century. Two parallel bars are joined and connected, spanning miles across cities and regions, escaping the traffic (or in those days, horses and wagons ;)). Today, from commuting people at high speed, to hauling tons of freight around, railroads still play an integral part in getting people and resources from A to B.

For this challenge, we'd simply like you to show an image of a chosen railroad in your city containing a train. It can be any type, with any number of tracks or trains, Maybe a bustling central terminal, a long fast straight, or a mountainous pass. Although not required, any combination of custom content or photo editing may be used for enhancement. As usual, there are many options here -- be creative!

This is a  Weekly  challenge running for 7 days.

Submission Requirements

  1. Your image contains one or more railroads, with at least one train.

  2. You may use any city-building game -- including SimCity 4, Cities: Skylines, SimCity (2013), and CitiesXL / XXL.

  3. Please submit only one image for this challenge.
However, you may link a larger version of the same image in the description, or post in the comments section. Please see this post for clarification.

  4. For the purpose of voting, please check your image has a full title & description.

  5. Your image must be created solely by yourself, without any assistance from anyone else.

  6. To qualify for entry, please ensure your image is uploaded to the submissions category, and complies with these requirements.

    VOTING NOW OPEN!
Please visit the challenge album to cast your votes! :read:

Voting will be open for 6 days.

    Voting Rules

    1. Votes may be cast by rating images inside the album.
    2. You may rate all entries once at any rating value (1-5). All votes are anonymous.
    3. We encourage you not to rate your own entry.
    4. Try to vote on all other entries, as this will help ensure the results are evenly distributed.

    Suggested Voting Criteria

Here are some ideas to help you evaluate each entry when voting:

    • How well does the railroad and train(s) stand out as being the focal point of the image?
    • The amount of detail present in the surrounding area, to complement the railroad.
    • Does the scene appear visually interesting?
    • The sense of atmosphere generated by the scene as a whole.
    • Locomotives are powerful machines. Considering the type (i.e. passenger or freight), how well does the image portray this?
