Happy Self-Care Sunday!

TBH, I have a love/hate relationship with self-care. I hate feeling the pressure of another thing to add to my to-do list, especially something like taking care of myself, which is something fun that I enjoy doing. I don't want to feel obligation around things that should be enjoyed. But the reality is, it's easy to forget about how important maintaining our self-care is. We need to check in with ourselves and make sure we're doing the stuff that fuels us, even if it means adding another thing to the to-do list. Keeping up with our wellness, habits & rest is vital to being our best selves.

Our self-care routine, like everything else, isn't going to be perfect but making sure we're noticing where we can do more (and where we can do less) is all a practice—one that I hope we remember to enjoy.

I hope you find today's email inspiring & that you have the most self-care filled Sunday that ever was.

Video
If you believe in God, you might enjoy this video from Oprah in 2012 with
relationship expert Iyanla Vanzant on why you should put yourself first. It's a quick 3-minute video that might give you a little aha-moment if you see self-care as being selfish.

Podcast
We're loving By The Book, a podcast by two women who read personal development books and put them to the test for two weeks. As personal growth junkies ourselves, we're always curious about what books are actually life changing versus a waste of time. They've done episodes on The Secret, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck, and The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up.

App
Alissa Vitti of Flo Living is changing the way women experience their monthly cycles. With Vitti's app, My Flo, you can track your cycle while learning how to eat, workout and sync your lifestyle based on your hormones. You can also set the app to send an email to your partner to keep them updated on how to best meet your needs throughout your phases. Next up: Get Woman Code. Her book has rave reviews.

What are your favorite self-care activities?

We asked some of our favorite influencers what their favorite ways to practice self-care. Respond to this email to share yours and we may feature your response in a future newsletter!

1. "My favorite way to practice self-care, is to regularly check in with myself and how I’m feeling throughout the day. I’m constantly asking myself, ‘How does this make me feel? Why am I feeling this way? What do I need to feel well in this moment?’ Being in tune with how my mind and body reacts to the world around me helps me better understand what activities I need to do to feel well. These check-ins guide my personal wellness and self-care practices each day." - Les, The Balanced Berry

2. "My favorite way to practice self-care lately has been meditating, yoga, journaling, and saying NO." - Catherine Beard, The Blissful Mind

3. "My favorite way to indulge in self-care is to clear all my plans for an evening, turn off my phone, and run a hot bath with lavender essential oil and some epsom salts. Maybe a glass of rosé and some Netflix or a good book and I'm totally zoned the f out in my own little self-love world!" - Ali Daniel, Punch Drunk Soul
