TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I believe we have to meet the student where they are in their life, their skills, and their strengths. Special Education is my LOVE but I also have a vast number of years teaching various grades at the elementary level. I have always made materials for my students and now I want to share them with you! MY TEACHING EXPERIENCE I have taught resource classes for students with mild disabilities as well as self contained classes for students with moderate to more severe disabilities Many materials I used in my special education classrooms were ones I created so they are all tailored and designed with special education teachers and students in mind, but can easily used in the general education classrooms also. My journey into TPT has been amazing as I have been meeting and learning so much from fellow bloggers and sellers. Be sure and visit my blog at http://www. specialedspot.com

MY TEACHING STYLE

My best successes in teaching have come from meeting and teaching each child at their skill level, knowing their strengths and weaknesses and meeting their needs at whatever level they may be functioning. In my special education classroom I used this individualized teaching style to implement the specific goals and objectives of my students' Individual Educational Plans. I teach topics and subjects in such a way that they can be differentiated on the many different levels.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a degrees in Specific Learning Disabilities and Elementary Education. I have certifications in Early Childhood and ESOL and an endorsement certification in Autism.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

My journey into special education came naturally as I grew up with an older sister with special needs. Seeing her needs not only in learning tasks, but also in social situations, drove me to seek out better ways to work with and teach students in special education.
