It's 3AM. An alert from the Emergency Broadcast System wakes you up. It says "DON'T LOOK AT THE MOON." You have hundreds of notifications. Hundreds of random numbers are sending "It's a beautiful night tonight. Look outside.

Directions:

  1. Put your info into this Google Form to register: REGISTER FOR CONTEST HERE.

  2. Make a short film 3 minutes or less that includes the situation in the prompt in some way. What happens next is up for you to decide.

  3. Submit your film before 11:59pm on April 18th, 2021 using this form: UPLOAD SUBMISSIONS HERE.

  4. Follow The Lens Instagram for updates and future contests.

Rules and Stipulations:

  • Keep it PG (no profanity, gore, nudity, or other uncouth material).

  • Film should be no longer than 3 minutes.

  • Be as creative as you'd like.

  • Teams of more than 1 student are allowed, but they will split the prize if they win.

  • By entering the DON'T LOOK AT THE MOON FILM CONTEST, you give The Lens consent to publish your video to its YouTube channel and its other social platforms and beyond.

Judging guidelines:

The film will be judged by a mix of Ignatius faculty, experts in the field, and non-participating members of The Lens. The general guidelines that will be given to reviewers are the following:


Each category has a 1-10 point system then a final score is given based on totals.

  1. Cinematography: Does the way the movie is shot help advance the storyline?

  2. Plot: Is the storyline easy to follow and cohesive? Does it contain creative and original ideas? Does it engage the audience?

  3. Acting: Do the characters (people, things, or ideas) in the film give a convincing and engaging performance?

  4. Audio: Does the audio enhance the storyline and the viewer’s experience?

  5. Overall: To what extent did you enjoy watching the film?
