The game has also seen success on streaming platforms. "More than 100,000 players have streamed Sea of Thieves since launch," reads Rare's statement, "resulting in more than 10 million hours watched in the last week."That success comes amidst player complaints about lack of content, and a slew of connection problems and bugs. Game Pass players were unable to access the game yesterday, and a progress-killing bug is currently causing problems for some players.
That facet wasn't ignored in the statement: "We know the response has led to some scale challenges and exposed some bugs we have addressed and will continue to address. Please know that the team at Rare is working hard to tackle any player-impacting issues and this is our number one priority."
We awarded Sea of Thieves a 7/10 in our final review, saying that its "pirate fantasy is a good foundation that's fun with friends but [it's] bogged down by repetitive grind." Joe Skrebels is IGN's UK News Editor, and Sea of Thieves is his favourite ever chatroom. Follow him on Twitter.
