Boston Medical Center’s Project STRIVE (Support Trauma Interventions for Educators) aims to help schools and early education systems of care increase their capacity to identify, respond to, and optimally support the unique needs of young children who have been impacted by trauma exposure.
In the Trauma 101 training, we will discuss a general overview of trauma, brain development, attachment theory, and the importance of self-care. After completing the training, participants will be able to:
Identify the symptoms and behaviors of trauma in children
Understand the neurological, social, and emotional impacts of toxic stress and trauma
Use trauma-informed strategies to enhance resilience and protective factors

Facilitator: Courtney Bailey

Courtney Bailey, LICSW, TCTSY-F, is the Clinical Coordinator of the Child Witness to Violence Project at Boston Medical Center. She graduated from Simmons College with a Master’s degree in Social Work. Ms. Bailey has worked in a variety of settings including outpatient, residential and community based programs providing psychotherapy for children and their families. She has provided numerous trauma informed trainings for school systems, social workers, and early child care providers.
