Observations on the School,

Earlier this year the AIA recognized our globe-trotting president Michael Sorkin with the 2019 Collaborative Achievement Award. Along with Jan Gehl Hon. FAIA and Dr. Anne Taylor Hon. AIA, Sorkin will be at this weekend's AIA Conference in Las Vegas to discuss key concepts developed over years of research and analysis on how architecture can support a human-centered approach.

Big Ideas for Small Lots

Michael Sorkin Studio is a first-stage winner! The design competition was organized by NYC HPD and AIANY for small-scale urban infill housing and received over 400 proposals from all around the world.
UR book selected in AIGA + Design Observer "50 Books | 50 Book Covers" of 2018

The prestigious design award received over 700 entries last year and identifies "exemplars of the craft and effect of good design."

Forthcoming UR book Genealogy of Bassac by Sereypagna Pen and Brian McGrath received a Graham Foundation grant. 

This volume presents a careful architectural study of an area in downtown Phnom Penh constructed on twenty-four hectares of landfill along the swampy floodplain of the Bassac River from the perspectives of artists and residents who have lived through five decades of genocide, exile, return, and eviction.
