[NEW SPOT] Various Japanese Kushiyaki at Tori-Ya by Kinokawa

A friend of mine told me about this newly opened Japanese eatery in SCBD Sudirman area, Tori-Ya by Kinokawa Restaurant. Kinokawa Restaurant that is known for the best sushi and omakase, just opened their second branch in this area, and they also opened Tori-Ya since mid-July 2014, which located side by side with Kinokawa. The place is not spacious, but I love to see their Yakitori Bar. They keep everything look simple and minimalist; even the entrance was made to look like a traditional Japanese house.

Being in this place reminded us of our Japan Trip on last August 2014. Suddenly we both miss everything about Japan again! Oh well, anyway.. By looking at the menu, Tori-Ya seems to be positioning their menu more into Kushiyaki (often called as Yakitori) rather than the main course. Various kinds of Kushiyaki (skewer grilled) available at Tori-Ya, such as Seafood category, Yasai (vegetarian), Tori (chicken), Gyu (beef), Buta (pork), and Tamago (egg). Several bite-sized pieces of meat or vegetables from each category mounted and grilled over hot charcoal. Both of us were actually full already, but since we’re going to have a meeting with our friends nearby this place, so we decided to try two or three different Kushiyaki in Tori-Ya for snack time.

Buta Enoki, IDR 35K - Non Halal

I’m happy with the Pork  Bacon that had more lean meat, crispy and perfectly wrapped the enoki mushrooms in miso sauce.

Tebasaki, IDR 38K (3 pcs)

Grilled chicken wings with shio (salt) and pepper flavor. It was pretty good and full of flavor.

Momo Ninniku, IDR 28K

Chicken thigh pieces alternate with grilled whole garlic in shio (salt) flavor. I loved the smoked garlic aroma from it!

Overall, Tori-Ya is a fun place to hang out after a busy day at work. Since the place is pretty small, I suggest you to go early to secure a table. All of them are delicious, and we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere while eating. Though their Kushiyaki is far from fancy and a bit too salty for us, but it’s worth to try. Price wise for food varies from Rp. 28.000, – until Rp. 168.000, -.
