Comment Period Open for Upcoming Utah Oil and Gas Lease Sale
Comments due: January 19
Hi Friend,
The Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) document for UT Bureau of Land Management's (BLM's) March 2021 Oil and Gas Lease Sale is now available. According to the press release, BLM Utah is proposing to offer 9 parcels, 7,213 acres acres.
Comments are due January 19.
Rocky Mountain Wild has prepared a screen showing conflicts between the proposed parcels and important wildlife, wilderness, and other resources values.
- Greater sage-grouse, including priority habitat
- White-tailed prairie dog
- Crucial winter and year-round habitat for mule deer
- Crucial year-round habitat for pronghorn including fawning habitat
- Parcels in inventoried roadless areas (Hilgard Mountain, Solomon Basin, and Thousand Lake Mountain)
- Parcels within 10 miles of Capitol Reef National Park and Dinosaur National Monument
Please take a moment and send your comments to the BLM asking them to protect the wildlife and wild lands in this region by removing affected areas from the proposed parcels list.
To date, we have helped defer more than 2 million acres of public land from oil and gas development! Together, we can save even more.
Wildly yours,
Chris Talbot-Heindl
