Today, Assemble was pleased to welcome Premier Dan Andrews along with the Minister for Planning Sonya Kilkenny, to the busy worksite of our first project with AustralianSuper, 15 Thompson Street in Kensington, to launch a new housing statement.

The housing statement, ‘The Next Decade | 2024 – 2034 Affordability Partnership’ outlines significant changes to the way that housing is provided in Victoria – changes that we think will encourage capital investment from superannuation funds across Australia and enable more affordable housing options for more people.

“This announcement is one more step towards getting the plumbing right to ensure we can deliver more impact into housing and alleviate some of the symptoms of the housing crisis for people. This will make sure we can build affordable, high quality, well-designed housing in suburbs where it is needed the most.”

Kris Daff, Assemble’s Managing Director

We were also proud to see CEO Carloyn Viney from our partner Super Housing Partnerships accept the invitation from Government to be a signatory to the statement today at the launch.

Highlights of the statement include:

  • Shared Responsibility: The collaboration between the Government and the Housing Industry demonstrates a comprehensive approach, ensuring all Victorians will benefit.
  • Quality and Efficiency: Ensuring the construction of quality homes while expediting the development process is essential for the well-being and satisfaction of all Victorians.
  • Affordability: As advocates for affordable housing, Assemble commends the emphasis placed on ensuring every Victorian has access to housing within their means.
  • Regular Review: Setting a robust target of 800,000 homes over the next decade and committing to periodic reviews will ensure accountability and adjustments as needed.

Assemble are committed to delivering affordable, well-connected and well-designed homes across Melbourne for more people. This statement will support us and our partners to do so, and we look forward to seeing this ambitious statement come to effect over the next decade.

We are already building homes that will enable more people to finally have options when it comes to their homes – we welcome the opportunity this statement presents to build more homes for future generations.
