Because you loved our last photo contest so much, we decided to give it another go! But rather than just focusing on what you love about our town, we”re letting you be even more creative. We”ve been inspired by the Photo-A-Day memes that have been floating around the Internet lately, so every day, we”re going to present a new theme for you to interpret.
It”s kind of like an open-ended scavenger hunt. For example, the theme for Aug. 1 is “mural.” You could interpret it literally and maybe grab a shot of the “Vallejo Rising” mural on Marin and Georgia streets. But you can also bend and stretch the theme a little — perhaps your best friend has a new tattoo that you consider to be a type of “mural.”
Whatever. It”s up to you — just show us, in 31 days and through your own eyes, what you think about “Our Town.”
Photo Contest Rules:
• Submit photos to social@timesheraldonline.com with the subject line “vth31.” Daily deadline is 5 p.m. PDT. Limit one photo submission per person per day. Please include your full name, a brief description of your entry and your phone number (needed in case you win a prize).
• Photographs must be your own, and can be taken any day. Feel free to interpret the daily themes as you see fit, but remember — this is a family newspaper. Also, heavily edited images will not be accepted.
• All photos are subject to verification, and images may be used by the Times-Herald both in print and in online.
• Submitted photos will be gathered every night and published in an online slideshow. The best image representing each daily theme — as decided by the Times-Herald staff — will be featured in a final slideshow published Sunday, Sept. 2. There also will be several photographs published in the Sept. 2 Sunday Outlook section.
Contest entries, prizes:
• No purchase necessary to enter or win prizes, but entrants must be at least 18 and a California resident. Void where prohibited.
• Win something. Throughout August, we”ll have occasional drawings for various prizes on certain days: Aug. 1, 2, 7, 11, 16, 22 and 30 in which everyone who enters will be eligible. Prizes will vary, and we may add another contest day or two during the month.
• Grand prize. At the end of August, everyone who has submitted photos on at least 10 of the 31 days will be included in a drawing for a grand prize. The grand prize is in addition to the various contest days
• Times-Herald employees are ineligible for prizes. Limit one win per household per drawing.
• Winners will be notified by email and/or by phone. Prizes can be picked up on the next business day at the Times-Herald office, 440 Curtola Parkway. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
