When Hearts Collide

Rate this book
"Classic cars, garden gnomes, and steamy romance? My kind of book!"
International Bestselling Author Kate Perry

Rachel Bennett’s plan is simple, no distractions until she finds her dream job. What she didn’t plan for was a fender bender with a scowling, sexy man in an expensive suit. Craig Larsen has enough stress trying to save his dealership’s reputation, he definitely doesn’t need a sassy redhead who can’t drive turning everything upside down. One thing is certain, life was much more peaceful before they crashed into each other.

Fate has other plans for them, though. Soon they find themselves plotting a yard war against a grumpy neighbor, toilet-papering the trees of an old high school nemesis, and fighting over the last slice of pizza. Can two very different people plus one fender bender equal a chance at forever?

Once upon a time, there was a young girl who wrote sappy poetry about every relationship gone wrong. She had her heart broken many times before the man of her dreams stepped off a big Navy ship and swept her off her feet, promising to never hold her shoe obsession against her.

From that day forward, she swore she’d never again write sappy poetry of unrequited love. Instead, a sucker for smooches and happily-ever-afters, Niecey Roy now writes contemporary romance inspired by her sailor’s sexy brown eyes and charming sense of humor.

Rachel and Craig meet in an obscure way, which feeds to the animosity that drives their relationship. In the beginning, I wasn't truly sure how I felt about Rachel. She was a snarky, opinionated, mouthy woman. I didn't like that much at all. Made her kind of bratty, so I wasn't sure where this book could go with that attitude; however, the likable snarky woman came out and made it much better.

Craig has a lot going on in his life, with his business and some not so great things hanging around, but the one thing he doesn't need is a bratty woman who is as condescending as anyone he's ever met. However, Rachel grows on him, and while they are getting to know one another, Rachel grows on the readers too. I ended up liking her a lot, so don't let her first impression fool you. She's actually pretty great.

I received an ARC from the author for an honest review. I would do it all over again. It's a great book, and I hope you enjoy it.

Originally released as Fender Bender Blues, it's been updated and even received a new name, When Hearts Collide....

When Hearts Collide is a funny, sarcastic, witty, sexy story. The relationship between the characters is well developed, and fun.

Rachel is a snarky, sarcastic, sassy chick!! And I LOVED her character.

Craig he had some moments I wanted to knock some sense into him. But he did make up for it.

The way these two meet, when Rachel hits his car. I found myself laughing so much at these two. Their banter between one another HILARIOUS!!! What starts as dislike for both of them, grows into more. It was definitely a cute, fun read.

*i voluntarily read an advance copy from the author, this is my honest review.*

This was a fun book to read!

Rachel meets Craig when they have a collision in a parking lot. From there, things took off! Rachel was a sassy, smart-mouth woman, and while at times it was a bit much for me, it was just right for her. Craig had a lot going on in his life, but what a guy. I really liked him!

This is the first book that I've read by Niecey Roy, and I'm glad I did! It was a great read, and I can't wait for more!

After being assaulted on the job, Rachel is taking a hiatus from her beloved social work career and trying to put some order into her life. That includes finding a different type of work that will be fulfilling, it doesn’t include a fender bender with Mr. Angry Hot Guy who’s moody, arrogant and a sleazy car salesman. Craig, the aforementioned sleazy care salesman is really the owner of the largest car dealership in town and has his own set of problems. His company is dealing with a lawsuit and his ex girlfriend doesn’t seem to get the memo that they’ve been over, done, through, finished for the past three months. And that’s before the sarcastic redheaded firecracker destroys his beloved Camaro.

This whole book was such great fun! The sniping, snarking and verbal swiping between the two main characters was the most entertainment I’ve had in awhile. It’s always delightful to watch two people who detest each other at first glance work their way around to being in love. In addition to wondering how these two will ever get together, there are added elements of interest. How does private company information about the lawsuit keep getting leaked to the press? And what the heck is the deal with the ex girlfriend, and how will that be resolved? There’s also the side story of the romance between Rachel’s best friend Leah and Craig’s brother Rick, two secondary characters who are also well-rounded, believable and fun.

The advance copy I read of this book is my first by this author, and I’ll definitely be reading more from her! I found this book to be amazingly well written with impeccable grammar and top quality editing, yet lively, humorous and engaging to read. It was a satisfying, fun romp that easily hooked me and kept my attention from beginning to end.

There’s one point I feel compelled to make. I know this book got some negative reviews when it was released as Fender Bender Blues. Obviously my opinion is different. Here’s the thing. In real life, I’m kind of a snarky, sarcastic, sassy chick. What others read in the heroine as being snotty, immature and entitled, I saw as sarcastic wit and humorous snark. Just depends on where the reader comes from in her thinking and bias. Yes, some of the interactions and antics are immature, but I still sometimes act immature in an effort to produce a laugh in someone, and I’m a couple of decades beyond my late twenties. Personally, I take far greater issue with Craig’s single moment of stupidity than any apparent immaturity portrayed by Rachel, but I think the book is meant to be a fun, lighthearted read while including a couple of underlying, deeper issues the main characters have to sort through. So if you’re looking for a fun, lighthearted romance and you approach it as such, you’ll enjoy this book and appreciate it’s laugh-out-loud moments.

Rachel Bennett has made a new rule for herself, no distractions, especially the opposite sex, until she finds her dream job, but when she got into a fender bender, that the man she hit, would become just that. And the sexy scowling man definitely isn't one that she wants to spend any time on with his attitude. Craig Larsen has been in a battle to save his dealership's reputation, which is putting big stress on him, so having one of his beautiful cars dinged by a red head putting on lip gloss has set his blood to boiling. But fate has a different plan for these two people that can't help but antagonize each other, and before long, they can't stay away from each other. Will these complete opposites stop needling each other long enough for a chance at forever? OMG I LOVED every minute of this utterly captivating story, and devoured it in one sitting. Usually, I don't read other people's reviews at all, #SorryNotSorry, as I don't want to be biased before even reading, but for whatever reason, I did before I picked this one up. I saw a couple of them talked about how irritating Rachel was with her brattiness, but I gotta say, I didn't have that problem at all! She was a heroine that I couldn't have loved more if I tried. In fact, I spent more time wanting to shake Craig to be honest, as he could be very cruel at times when it came to her. Not to mention some of his questionable douchey decisions. But honestly, what got me the most was the humor in this story, because it had me laughing until tears physically came out of my eyes. Those wars that she had kept me cackling so hard that I snorted more than once. I was already a fan of Niecey Roy, but now with this new brilliant masterpiece, I'm addicted! And hopefully, she will write more about these entertaining people in the near future, in which I'm totally not too proud to beg! Anyway to any reading this review, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This author is brand new for me. I had never read anything she had written before and I'd never heard of her but the book description sounded so fun I just couldn't wait to read it. And it was GOOD!! So GOOD!! I beyond LOVED this story.

Now if you think I remember a book just like this, well you might have read the original version. This book was the authors first book ever published and she now has updated it for 2017. And what a fun story it is. It is also a really great hate to love storyline with a VERY EVIL ex who causes lots of issues.

Craig is a car dealership owner and while he should be living high and happy he is not. He has a gazillion problems. #1 is his crazy ex, Maggie works for him and is stalking him and #2 he has a lawsuit against his dealship pending. So between Maggie and the lawyers his stress level is HIGH and to make matters worse, he gets into a fender bender.

And that is how he meets Rach. Rach has her own problems. She is jobless social worker. And is broke and the last thing she needs is a car accident. So that is the beginning of her hate on for Craig and vice versa.

That is until Craig and Rach find out his brother and her bestie are DATING!! Yes that is when the fun starts. And it is fun, Rach drags Craig into her neighborhood wars, shopping trips and just plain old fun. And well Craig cannot resist.

This was a terrific book and is full of humor, romance and laughs. I beyond love it and hope to read more from this author.

***4.5 Stars***

Great sexy, sweet read by Niecey Roy! Rachel is down on her luck. She is looking for her dream job after leaving her old job as a social worker. What she doesn’t count on is a fender bender with sexy Craig Larsen. The encounter leaves them with less than pleasant feelings towards each other. Neither expect to see each other again, and they definitely don’t expect to fall in love.

Loved these two characters. I loved the banter between the two of them. They each challenged the other which just ramped up their chemistry. Each chapter was told from Rachel’s POV or Craig’s POV. I love when a writer does that because it gives me insight to each character which makes me feel like I’m a part of the story. I have to say I loved watching Rachel and Craig fall for each other. The two are very different from one another, so I knew it might be a rocky road to their HEA. Add in an ex-girlfriend, and you definitely have a book full of fireworks.

I haven’t had the opportunity to read anything by Niecey Roy, so I was glad to get the chance. I love the way she writes. The story is well-written, and the characters are very well-developed, even the secondary ones like Rachel’s parents, BFF, Craig’s brother, and even Craig’s secretary. I highly recommend reading When Hearts Collide if you are looking for a witty, intelligent, sexy, sweet romance with lots of humor and unforgettable, loveable characters!

I fell in love with this story so quickly.

Rach and Craig are amazing characters and so easy to love. They are quite the opposite but as the story goes you realize, at the same time they do, how perfect they are for each other. And they are such good persons too! Smart, caring, loyal, and with a great sense of humor.

Their chemistry is undeniable. Seriously, them together means fireworks. Their interactions are pure gold. They get through each other’s brains. Under the other’s skin. And of course, they carved themselves a space in each other’s heart. And a print to their soul.

I was enjoying the story so much that I didn’t stop until I read The End. But when I got there, I was like: can I have more? Because the book is brilliant in every sense. It’s different and has you on the edge about what's going to happen next.

Funny and bittersweet. Overall, more sweet than bitter.

This book was originally published as Fender Bender Blues but has been revamped & published. I loved it the first time but you can tell the Niecey Roy has grown as a writer & she redid this wonderfully. Rach is the slightly crazy maybe but fun lead in the story. She has had a little run of bad luck but whether it is fate or luck or whatever her life is changed the moment she runs into or is it Craig that ran into her?
Craig is all business and doesn't have time or need distraction in his life. He just wants his current problems to be fixed & not have more added on to him.
Together they find themselves in some rather interesting situations and learning things about themselves & each other along the way.

**WARNING...No lipstick or garden decorations were harmed in this book but definitely used to create havoc.

Go ahead and grab your copy of this fun, sweet, & maybe a little vengeful romantic comedy that will have you laughing out load and swooning too.

You know the old saying there is a fine line between love and hate? This book shows just that in an interesting and laugh worthy enemies (somewhat) to lovers story.

In this book we meet, a beautiful yet chaotic. Rachael Bennett, a woman her believed a good thing of gloss and the perfect job can solve all of her problem and the workaholic hottie Craig Larson. They are introduced with quite a bang...Literally. They were fiery from the start and had no plans of seeing each other again. But as most know not all things go to plan. Through in the universe and meddling friends and we get an interesting story.

I really enjoyed this book. It was lighthearted and perfect for coming off an angsty story that made my heart break into a million pieces. I definitely would recommend this book.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a light, fun, and amusing story. Rachel is a single woman who recently left her job and is in search of a new one. She accidentally rear ends Craig one day and they exchange a few words along with their insurance cards. Rachel's best friend, Leah, happens to be dating Craig's brother, Rick. So Rachel and Craig's paths cross again. Initially they do nothing but bicker back and forth, usually Rachel is the one bickering. I thought she was pretty funny. Craig is handsome and charming. I enjoyed reading this story and watching their relationship play out.

I LOVE how Rachel and Craig met, it totally sets the pace for this story! This was a book that was definitely appreciated after a rough week, the snarkiness, and laugh worthy situations were perfect. There were times when Rachel drove me nuts, I wanted to shake her a little - but then the same thing goes for Craig - these characters are perfectly flawed. I loved LEAH, she is the kind of friend that everyone needs - she stands behind you, puts you in your place, tells you like it is and meddles like no ones business. This one kept me turning pages and wanting more.

I will be reading more Niecey Roy!

This was an overall fun book to read! Rachel is all kinds of quirky, and well Craig isn't. They are so different, but it works really well for them. There are several moments you want to slap both of them, but they redeem themselves quickly. I hated to see it end. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book. #MSBB

Craig and Rachel's first meeting is very rocky. She finds Craig rude snd cranky. With Rachel's quick wit, Craig finds her getting under his skin. They keep getting thrown together in situations out of their control. Loved their story. Rachel is strong and witty while Craig is calm and controlled. Must Read!

This book has humor, it has fire, it has sass, and it has more!! You won't want to put it down once you pick it up! Rach, a fiery redhead finds herself in a predicament right away.... and it's with our leading man Craig. These two are not so fond of each other. Thanks to Leah, her best friend, they meet up time and time again. As this story goes on you will find yourself laughing at the hilarity of what is going on. You will also find yourself ready to strangle Craig and cheer on Rach. But in the end you will be cheering for the two of them to find their happy ending!!

Lots of fun and cringeworthy awkwardness!
A little fender, meddling best friend matchmaker, nosy neighbors, and an adorable puppy mix together in a hilarious way.

I really liked the combo of fiery stubborn - & sometimes bratty - Rachel and power driven workaholic Craig that loves to torment her at every turn.
I recommend it and look forward to reading more Niecey Roy!

Oh how I love Niecey Roy! She never fails to have me laughing a swooning all at the same time. I liked this book when it was released as Fender Bender Blues. Now that it has been reworked from cover to cover it is absolutely amazing!
When Hearts Collide is a fun, witty, sexy story that will have you laughing out loud. Niecey has a knack for creating characters that you can't help but fall in love with. Rachel and Craig are those characters. I could not get enough of them. The back and forth between these two was hilarious and watching them try to fight there feelings was incredibly entertaining.
If you are looking for a fun, sexy read that will have you falling in love from the moment if impact, then this is the one for you!!!

This book was amazing! It totally sucked me into the story from page one. Hot angry guy stayed in Rachel's mind after the fender bender. When she found out that his brother was dating her best friend, they kept showing up at the same places. He was there with her through some crazy escapades. When they ended up broken apart, I felt so much emotion because of the huge misunderstanding.

You gotta give a little to get a little in life. I think that this book is an amazing representation of finding out who you are and where you belong when you least expect it!
