Smartphone Technology in Clinical Ophthalmology

In this article from Clinician’s Brief, our official clinical practice journal, Lucien V. Vallone, DVM, DACVO, Texas A&M University, describes how a typical smartphone--for the most part, without specialized adapters--can be used to capture and use ophthalmic images for the purposes of diagnosis and documentation.

Feeding Behaviour in Cats

Cats – especially indoor cats – can suffer a lot if their owners are unaware of their requirements, especially in the field of nutrition. Anthropomorphism and a general lack of knowledge regarding a cat’s needs can lead to a variety of behavioral problems, which can sometimes eventually lead to rehoming or even euthanasia for the pet. For instance, did you know that a cat prefers to follow a fairly structured daily routine, and that if the owner has an irregular lifestyle this can be stressful for the pet? Jon Bowen, an internationally recognized behaviorist, summarizes the key points in his recent paper on ‘feline feeding behavior’ and offers a plethora of hints and tips to help you and your staff better educate cat owners.
