MANILA, Philippines – This year’s Miss Universe pageant is already upon us and expectations are already high for our country’s representative, Mary Jean Lastimosa.

The 26-year-old beauty queen from North Cotabato will try to clinch theMiss Universe crown for the Philippines.

While Filipinas have had a good standing in the said pageant in the past few years (with the country’s contestants always making it to the top five of the competition since 2010), the crown has been elusive for the Philippines thus far.

The expectations are doubly high for MJ right now, with the country itching for another crown after the 2014 set of beauty queens failed to match the Philippines’ success of 2013 in the international pageant.
