Sites Do Things to People is a multi-media performance of sensorial reciprocity between place and the people who are affected by it.

Acoustic cello and electronics will be improvised in real time as they blend and twist to create hybrid relationships in the in-between, while projections will inhabit a more time-based narrative. We watch as relationships to place grow and change. At first characters are people, but soon, sound itself is characterized, the acoustical body of the site in attentive response to those who have begun to listen. featuring Stanzi Vaubel, Su Hyun Nam, John "Lazlo" Shotwell, Swannie Jim, Teri Rueb, Bruce Jackson, Joyce Hwang, and Craig Freudenthal.

Stanzi Vaubel started out as a classical cellist. She trained at Manhattan School of Music and Juilliard Pre-College. She has collaborated on projects at Robert Wilson's Watermill Center and performed at venues such as Tanglewood, The Long House, and Carnegie Hall. She was hired by the Whitney Museum to design an interactive web project focused around teen engagement with contemporary American art. She graduated from Northwestern University where she ran a radio show called "Ready To Talk" which featured filmmakers, actors, writers, and poets from around the world including Alex Ross, Aleksandar Hemon, Francine Prose, and David Amram. She worked for New York Public Radio and was the first person to produce video content for the culture page online. Her audio documentary Practice, Practice, Practice was featured by the Third Coast Audio Festival, her short film We're Apart of the City won Directors Choice at the Black Maria Film Festival. In 2012 she was selected to participate in The Telluride Film Festival's Student Symposium. In 2013 she produced a series for Chicago Public Radio called The Gift which dropped inside poetry and great literature from the past and present. In 2014 she was a fellow at UnionDocs Center for Documentary where she made a feature called This Place. Currently she is a teaching fellow in the Media Studies Department at The University at Buffalo.

Su Hyun Nam is an interdisciplinary media artist based in the US and Korea, working at the intersection of art, technology and communication to address her transcultural identity. Her works are exhibited internationally at venues from Spain, UAE, Greece to Singapore. She graduated summa cum laude from Konkuk university in Seoul, and received her MFA in Art and Technology Studies from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Media Study at the State University of New York at Buffalo, and also teaching 3D game technology as an adjunct instructor.

LAZLO  is a Professional audio engineer, noise artist and freelance Evil Genius. His work has been heard in productions for Torn Space, The New Phoenix,  Road Less Traveled, and Subversive Theater. He has also designed and mixed musicals for Canisius High School, Buffalo Academy for the Visual and Performing Arts and The Red Blazers .He is one of the organizers of The Buffalo Infringement, served as their Theatre Orginazer for a few years. He manages sound, lighting and power at events including  Boom Days, Friendship Festival, Mash Bash, Mass Appeal, Silo City Tapped, 100,000 Poets  and The Hamburg Fair. He has performed ambient soundscapes (The Noise Project) for The Buffalo Infringement Festival, The Prom of the Dead, The Burchfield-Penny Arts Center and the Big Orbit  Soundlab. He has toured around the world with The John and Mary Band, Moxy Fruvous, The 10,000 Maniacs, The Horse Flies, and Enter the Haggis.
