The two are on the Jaffrey police force and lead a SWAT team.Click to view News 9's report.Three years ago, they started Blue-U Defense, a company that teaches people how to react and defend themselves during situations of mass violence.“We bring into our training practical stuff that works anywhere,” Choate said.In any public place, preparation is key.“The success of your decisions comes from making good decisions in fractions of a second,” Choate said.“So the first thing that we teach is escape. If you can escape and do so safely, you're going to be better off in every situation,” Hileman said.If escape is not an option, Hileman said to lock and barricade yourself in a room. If a shooter does enter the room, then you should fight back if you can.“We prepare for the battle, and that means getting any weapon of opportunity or any weapon of plan that you have within your office setting,” Hileman said.That weapon could be a fire extinguisher, a stapler or even a coffee mug.“First thing I'm going to see is the muzzle of that gun. I'm going to grab that gun. Now I have control of the gun and I'm going to follow up with some physical strikes,” Choate said.The pair has trained thousands throughout the country and they tell people to always be ready to do something.“You have to be mentally prepared to win this,” Hileman said.“Every one of these major incidents that have happened, I guarantee you all those people thought the same thing: It's not going to happen to me,” Choate said.Blue-U Defense is holding two active-shooter seminars in Manchester in January.
