Dutch Dota 2 players can now see the contents of their next loot box
Valve's attempts to comply with loot box regulations continue apace
Valve continues to make changes to comply with Dutch and Belgian gambling regulations, ensuring that Dota 2 players in the Netherlands see what's inside a loot box before they make a purchase.
The new system was highlighted by a Reddit user, Lahrf, who posted a screenshot of the Dota 2 Treasury that informs users: "Treasures in your region show their contents before opening them."
The change is perhaps not as significant as it first appears. The random item inside is tied to the user account so, despite having the extra information, it is necessary to buy that loot box to get to the next random item - the nature and value of which will remain mysterious.
Earlier this month, Valve made some changes to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, locking in-game loot boxes for users in the Netherlands and Belgium - the two countries where loot boxes are under closest scrutiny.
