Changing the groups slug

I’ve had a good look for an answer to this but can’t find it. I’m trying to change the name of the groups slug to something else, I tried the following in bp-custom but it does not work:

define (‘BP_GROUPS_SLUG’, ‘test’ );

Unfortunately that plugin throws a lot of errors and no longer seems to be supported

The BP_GROUPS_SLUG constant is deprecated, and only used here for backwards compatibility.
(see here, line 141). This is also mentionned on codex.

What you can do is to simply modify the page slug. Go to dashboard, Page editor, and quick edit your default Group page, and change the permalink (ie. groups to test) and evtl. the title.

The BP Edit Group Slug plugin has been updated to work with BP 2.8. See this Tavern post for details:
