I bought this saw when my old cheapie saw broke due to low quality of the materials. I am very pleased with the solid, quality construction of the Hitachi CJ90VST. The motor has plenty of power. I cut 48 1-1/2" x 2" notches in 2" x 6" green treated lumber with no problem. With a new blade it cut fast and straight every time. The price is right. A great saw for the average guy's tool cabinet.

I have only had this saw for about a month and have used it a couple of times with very good results. Changing blades is easy and the lack of vibration is noticeable. It has more than ample power. I am looking forward to many hours of productive use.

One of several Hitachi hand tools I own and they all are outstanding.

Prior to buying this jig saw I used a Ski jig saw that had seen better days.It's hard to believe the difference between the two saws .The depth and speed of cut was so much deeper and faster.This saw has saved me lots of time compared to my old saw and the cuts are cleaner and more accurate.This thing cuts through wood like it is butter.I'm happy with this purchase.

This is a great jig saw

tilting is good the handle fits my hand i can see the cutting blade clearly the blade change is good no need for different tools for that the plastic case is nice and compact enogh to fit on selfs nicely there is little viberation in the jig saw the switch pulls easy and soft

durible surface plate

I almost bought another brand to replace my (mostly inoperable due to blade holder lever not engaging) Hitachi Jig Saw. But, because the majority of my shop tools are Hitachi and are excellent, I bought the CJ90VST. It is a great improvement. Easy to use, no issues with the blade holder, the blower could be a little stronger, speed control works well.

Much better than the CJ110MV

Compared to my old Craftsman jig saw, this is a breeze. Switching out blades used to take 5-10 min. with a screw driver. Now I can change out blades in less than 2 min. The unit is lighter than my old one and easier to maneuver. I have only had it a month so I can not comment on durability. The only drawback I can see is any accessories are extra instead of included.

Easier to use

a little trouble at first installing saw blade I was wanting to get a few accessories but nowhere on the internet could I find a guide or the plastic base plate for it or do others fit this saw,went to your catalog but none was listed for this saw,maybe I was missing would be nice to have a light and blade holder built on saw other wise nice saw

good strudy saw

My son got me the Metabo HPT Jig Saw for Father's Day and I love it. I have used it most recently to build face guards for our local church for food service. Made them out of 1/4 plexiglass and the variable speed was just what was needed to cut the glass perfectly. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Great performance

The CJ90VST:
-Cut through a variety of 2x's, boards, plywood, and metal materials 
-Outfitted with the appropriate blade assisted in better cuts
-Not necessarily the most accurate jigsaw, however if you have experience with jigsaws you can achieve the cuts you need
-Blade changing system can be a bit challenging compared to other jigsaws, but manageable 
-Blower rocks! keeps sight line clear
-Sturdy, balanced, time will tell with durability

Gets the job done

This tool is not something I use very often and to illustrate that it replaced a Skil brand tool I've had over 20 years. I was doing some volunteer work making some animal shapes cut from plywood for a photo shoot for the upcoming Christmas season. The Skil was not up to the task. It was so worn that I could no longer follow the cut line. My friend bought a new Porter Cable brand, normally a brand I have tremendous respect for, but it had such a shrill sound that everyone in the room had to wear hearing protection so I bought the Hitachi. It follows lines perfectly and precisely, does curves well, is smooth, quiet, comfortable and the blade tracks well the full depth of the cut. Did I mention it has a dust blower to keep the cut line clear? Plus this tool came in a case whereas my friends did not. It is a joy to use a quality tool...!
