IRVINE, Calif. – The PacWest Conference announced its' list of weekly awards on Monday afternoon, with
Cassie Pisik of the FPU women's basketball team garnering recognition. The junior forward was selected as the league's Player of the Week, giving the SunbirdsÂ
two conference honors in the last two weeks. Â
Â
A native of Lincoln, Calif., Pisik turned in a double-double in both of FPU's wins last week, giving her a total of nine for the season. InÂ
FPU's 18-point road victory over third-seeded Dominican on Saturday, Pisik turned in 13 points and collected a game-high 11 rebounds without touching the floor in the fourth quarter.Â
Â
"Cassie is having an incredible year for us. Every night she can carry us both offensively and defensively," head coach
Tim Beauregard said. "She is the voice of our defense, a focal point on offense, and relentlessly provides energy for our team. We simply would not be where we are today if it wasn't for Cassie."Â
Â
FPU is back in action on Thursday, when they head south to open the final road trip of the regular season against Concordia. The Sunbirds have alreadyÂ
clinched their first ever berth in the PacWest Conference Tournament, which begins on March 7 in San Rafael.Â
