Jaclyn Selesky joined the KOLD News 13 team in November 2018.
She was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, but fear not, she’s no stranger to triple-digit heat.
Before moving to Tucson, Jaclyn worked in the Tri-Cities, Washington as an anchor, reporter and main fill-in on the weather wall. That’s where she decided weather was where she wanted to be full-time.
Jaclyn went to Florida State University where she studied environmental science and media communications before transferring to Columbia College Chicago to major in broadcast journalism.
She is currently enrolled in Mississippi State University where she is just a few semesters away from completing her certificate in Broadcast and Operational Meteorology.
When she’s not at work, you can find Jaclyn taking full advantage of Tucson’s scenery by hiking, running or getting a little more heat in a hot yoga class.

Daily thunderstorm chances will remain in the forecast, especially during the afternoon and evening. With the ground already so saturated, it won’t take much rainfall to trigger flash flooding. Things dry out a bit for the middle of the next work week before another active period starts next weekend.
Our active monsoon pattern continues throughout the week as an upper-level high centers itself over the Four Corners region. Daily thunderstorm chances will remain in the forecast, especially during the afternoon and evening. With the ground already so saturated, it won’t take much rainfall to trigger flash flooding.
Tomorrow is shaping up to be the more active day this weekend. A surge of moisture will move northward from the Gulf of California while an inverted trough pushes in from the east. This combination could make for an active day across southern Arizona tomorrow with heavy rain, flash flooding, damaging winds and widespread blowing dust. Stay weather aware.
We will be back to the typical monsoon trend with isolated afternoon thunderstorms tomorrow. Storms will be capable of producing strong winds, blowing dust, heavy rain and flash flooding.
Scattered showers and storms on tap through next week. Sunday’s coverage will depend on how active it is across southern Arizona today into tonight. Expect heavy rain, flash flooding, frequent lightning and strong winds with any storms that develop.
Flash flood watch for southern Arizona has been extended once again through 11PM tonight. We are working with a lot of moisture and the ground is already saturated from the recent rain so it won’t take a lot to get that flooding going. Flash flood watch means conditions are favorable for flooding to occur; other threats include damaging winds and lightning.
High pressure to our east opens the door for deeper moisture across the state. A few other things are at play so we are not just relying on daytime heating to get our storms going. Showers and storms will be possible day and night through next week. Our flash flood watch has been extended through Tuesday evening, meaning conditions are favorable for flooding to occur. Other threats include damaging winds and lightning.
Showers and storms are getting a late start today. Best chance will be along the international border late this evening. For Tucson, rain chances increase after dark. A flash flood watch will go into effect Sunday beginning at 1PM lasting through 11PM. That means you need to be prepared as flooding is likely to occur. A more active monsoon pattern continues through next week.
Above average heat will continue over the next few days with a daily chance of mainly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. An uptick in monsoon activity is possible next weekend with temperatures returning closer to normal.
Strong to severe storms possible this evening. A blowing dust advisory goes into effect from 6pm-9pm from Tucson west, up along i-10 into Pinal county. Storms will be capable of producing damaging winds, heavy rain and hail. Stay weather aware.
The heat peaks tomorrow with an Excessive Heat Warning going into effect from Tucson westward. Some areas will have a high heat risk, meaning much of the population will be impacted by our temperatures. Make sure you drink plenty of water and stay cool. We could see storms pushing off the rim tomorrow with tomorrow evening looking like the best time frame for Tucson to see activity. Ridge hovers around the Four Corners region for the rest of the week.
Storm chances increase a bit through next week with a more favorable southeasterly flow. Temperatures will range from 105-107 degrees with little overnight relief.
Best chance for showers and storms will be from Tucson south and east. Any storms that develop will be capable of producing lightning, gusty winds and flash flooding. Drier air moves in by the middle of next week keeping the best storm chances along the Arizona/New Mexico border and the international border. Temperatures will climb back into the triple digits.
Storm chances continue through the Fourth of July. Threats will include heavy rain, flash flooding, strong wings and lightning. Beyond that, a drier air mass will move in limiting our storm chances by next week. As a result, temperatures will climb back to above normal.
Independence Day is shaping up to be the most active day over the holiday weekend. Biggest threats with storms that develop will be heavy rain, localized flash flooding, strong winds and lightning. Storm chances trend down by the middle of next week as drier air filters in.
Overall, not too much day-to-day change with the forecast this week. We’ll hold daily shower and storm chances, primarily late morning through early evening. Storms will likely favor the higher terrain and areas south/southeast of Tucson. Any storms that fire bring the threat of gusty winds, localized flash flooding, and lightning.Dew points will stay high with temperatures topping out in the upper 90s near 100° each day. A drier southwesterly flow will trim back our storm chances for July 4th and next week down to 20% or less. Highs back near the climate normal of 102° by mid-week.
Sunday is a First Alert Action Day due to a 50% chance for showers and storms in Tucson. Main threats will be heavy rainfall, lightning and strong winds. We’re also tracking Tropical Storm Celia off the western coast of Mexico. While the storm is not headed our way, we will tap into some of its moisture keeping rain and storm chances in the forecast. After reaching 111° Thursday, highs will decrease into the weekend thanks to greater storm chances and cloud cover. Greatest chance for storms this evening will be from Tucson south and eastward into the early overnight hours.Saturday will bring Southern Arizona its highest amount of monsoonal moisture and therefore greatest coverage of showers and storms this weekend. Gusty outflow winds, lightning, locally heavy rainfall, and blowing dust will all be concerns with any storms that fire up. We saw the hottest temperatures of the year today in Tucson with our high of 111 degrees. As monsoonal moisture streams in Friday through the weekend, our storm chances will increase and temperatures will decrease. Saturday’s storm coverage will be dependent on how much cloud over lingers from Friday night. Gusty winds, blowing dust, and lightning remain threats. Another round of excessive heat is on the way tomorrow as Tucson makes another run at 110 degrees. Excessive Heat Warning goes into effect from 10 am to 8 pm Thursday. Relief is on the way this weekend as we see a push of monsoon moisture into southern Arizona. Isolated showers and storms possible east of Tucson tomorrow. Moisture pushes farther west by Saturday, which looks like our best chance for widespread showers and storms. Brief heavy rain, strong winds, blowing dust and lightning are the main threats. Westerly flow will bring a drier air mass to the area for the first half of the week. Temperatures will tick down slightly before the heat ramps back up Wednesday and Thursday. The pattern shifts late next week with high pressure to our east and a trough to our west. This southerly flow will increase moisture across southern Arizona resulting in a better chance for storms through next weekend to kick off Monsoon 2022.
An Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect through Sunday evening.In addition to the high heat, we’ll continue to hold an isolated threat for afternoon/evening storms both Saturday and Sunday. Similar to the past few days, not much in the way of rainfall is expected. Lightning and gusty winds are our primarily threats, especially south and east of Tucson in the higher elevations.The start of the workweek will be quieter and a few degrees “cooler” before we heat up again by the end of the week. Next weekend is trending more active, so we’ll be keeping a close eye on that forecast! Monsoon officially begins Wednesday June 15th.
We have an Excessive Heat Warning in place through Sunday evening. High temperatures will range from 104° to 114° in the warned area each afternoon with not much relief during the overnight hours.Though coverage looks less than Thursday, a few isolated storms are possible yet again this evening. The best chance will likely be east and south of Tucson in the higher elevations. Lightning and gusty winds remain the greatest threats, with not much in the way of rainfall expected.

We hit 105 degrees at the Tucson International Airport today marking this the 7th earliest 105 degree occurrence on record. Average first 105 degree day is June 6th. Triple digits expected again tomorrow before several degrees of cooling for the rest of next week as high pressure shifts east.
Record and near-record heat expected tomorrow across southern Arizona as high pressure builds over the region. The upper-level ridge will shift east by next week allowing for a few degrees of cooling. Otherwise, dry, warm and breezy conditions expected next week.

High pressure builds in pushing our temperatures back into the 90s for much of next week. Fire weather concerns return on Tuesday as a backdoor cold front increases our easterly winds. There is a also a slight chance for thunderstorms in Cochise County, but given how dry it is, lightning without any beneficial rainfall could ramp up our fire danger.
Temperatures will climb back into the upper-90s by early next week. A brief lull in the winds for these next few days before we see another stretch of breezy winds throughout next week. High pressure will shift east tomorrow. Dry, warm and windy conditions this weekend have prompted a fire weather watch to go into place Sunday into Monday. Winds will be from the southwest gusting between 35-45 miles hour. Any fires that do start have the potential to spread rapidly. Slim chance for rain Tuesday along with much cooler temperatures.

A storm system passing through the Four Corners area this Sunday into Monday will bring an increase in clouds and slightly-cooler air. No rain or snow expected this far south. Winds increase ahead of the rain tomorrow prompting a fire weather watch for much of southern Arizona. Rain chances increase Monday through Tuesday. Thunderstorms also possible on Tuesday. Temperatures will drop 30 degrees from the 90s we saw over the weekend into the 60s by Tuesday afternoon. Highs rebound to near-normal by the middle of next week.
Highs climb to the low-90s once again on Sunday. A storm begins to impact the area on Monday with gusty winds followed by rain chances late Monday into Tuesday. Prime time rain chances look to be Tuesday morning through Tuesday afternoon. Temperatures drop 30 degrees in a two day period for Tucson.
