FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a man was found dead following a shooting Wednesday night.

Deputies responded to a home in the 1300 block of Anhinga Court in the Brookshire Subdivision at about 5:35 after receiving reports of a shooting.

Mark Danial Leshikar, 33, of Fayetteville, was found unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives questioned the occupants of the home Wednesday night, but no charges have been filed.

Leshikar’s body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Raleigh for an autopsy.

Fort Bragg officials said Leshikar and another soldier got into an altercation that led to the shooting.
