Senior Software Engineer (Operations Engineering Lead)

Our patented 2-Piece Rug System allows you to remove the top layer of your rug and wash it in your home washing machine, offering a stylish and convenient solution for families, pet owners, and busy individuals. We're a small engineering and operations group focused on scaling manufacturing and new product development processes. We have a strong brand and a great team fueling our growth.

Operations

The Operations Team is focused on removing the bottlenecks that threaten to slow Ruggable’s growth. In addition to engineering, you’ll be collaborating with our Operations and Management teams to build our in-house manufacturing software with an eye towards process improvement and automation.

This is an opportunity to work in a tight feedback cycle with users whose day-to-day work will be transformed by the software you build. You'll also help a massive operations shop scale with software and will see the impact of your work on the bottom line.

Job Summary

As an Engineering Lead you will be responsible for new development and improvements to our mission critical operations software. Your charges will include new feature development, code reviews for our contractors, and management of our 3rd party DevOps.

Upcoming roadmap features include an inventory manager for our US operations, barcoding/RFID for our product lines, integration with advanced warehouse telemetry-- including PLC programming-- and a full redesign of our ERP. Other potential projects include a carve out of our marketing team’s data warehouse and analytics pipeline and support for the design team with generative art tools.

What you Should Expect

General

• Developer and maintainer for our ERP application (Order Manager)
• Extend order manager to include inventory management, barcoding, additional warehouse telemetry and automation
• Set engineering standards and culture
• Help recruit additional engineering staff
• Be a part of our on-call rotation

Qualifications and Skills

• Interpersonal:

• Excellent communication skills: listen, write, and help teach others
• Manufacturing experience is a plus (your users will often be production line operators)
• Startup and/or e-commerce experience is a plus

• Experience and Skills:

• 6+ years as a full stack application developer
• Expert in at least two of:

• Javascript
• Django
• Postgresql
• 1 frontend framework (Ember, React, Vue or Flutter)
