The Nighthawks are hockey’s new expansion team. They’re ice hot. And they’re all about the chase.

Christian: They call me a hockey god because I’m a beast on the ice . . . and off. Men want to be me and women just want me. But now that the New York Nighthawks expect me to lead their team to victory, it’s all work and no play. My eyes are on the prize. Until I meet Serena Ellis, a sexy, curvalicious blonde who doesn’t know me from jack. And just like that, I’m hooked.

Serena: I don’t do one-night stands—especially with celebrity jocks who date models. Lots of models. But the god of hockey is a temptation that’s hard for mere mortals to resist. And after the best kiss of my life, I’m ready to throw my one-night stand rule out the window. Except Christian Chase won’t let me. He doesn’t want a one-night stand. He wants it all.

Christian is the new Captain for the Nighthawks. He's won two Stanley Cups, very rich and can have any woman he wants. His life seems charmed but the author did try to make this unique and surprised me with Christian's situation. Usually hockey gods are treated as such but his new teammates, one in particular, seem to be willing to knock him down at any cost to the team due to jealousy. I gotta admit, I'm used to seeing the team unity in sports books.

Serena is born from wealth but does not fit the mold. She's a beautiful girl who has battled body shaming her whole life. She's proud of who she is and will not let anyone make her feel ashamed. The book does focus a lot on her weight in the second half of the book. I'm not a big fan of body issues so I do wish there was less of it. I did like that for the most part, she wouldn't allow anyone to make her feel bad. That's not easy when others make it an issue. It's a good message to have in a book.

These two together as a couple were a good match. This book is on the shorter side so it does feel a bit rushed but I liked them. I liked that she was sassy with him and treated him like he was a normal guy. I also liked that he never commented or thought about her bigger size. All he saw was beautiful curves that made his mouth water. Overall, a good message to send out to readers.

I used to love sports romances but the more I read, the more it became a bit hard to read about grown men acting like little kids with their overblown egos and heroines that accepted things too easily.

I'm so happy that I gave this book a chance because I loved Christian. He was a successful hockey player that wasn't a conceited asshat. I loved that he was relatable, considerate and dedicated to his woman. I love that we get a dual POVs. Knowing what he was feeling and thinking, right alongside Serena was awesome and let me connect with them both.

Somehow, I like it. Boyfriend. It holds the promise of something deeper, something I am suddenly ready for. At least with Serena. No one else. Just her.

Serena was his perfect other half. She was smart, independent and an heroine that didn't allow her weak at the knees attraction to the Hero turn her into a doormat. When things take a turn for the worst for her, she calls him out and doesn't fall apart over it. I loved that about her.

Also it helped that Christian (once he came to his senses) didn't mince his words. Or try to defend his choices. He owns up to them and still comes back to beg for a second chance.

"...I thought if I wasn't in the picture, you'd be safe. You'd be stronger without me. And you are. But I need you. Because I'm stronger with you and I need you. Life is hell without you and it's killing me."

He also has the most romantic lines.

Three promises. I promise to adore you, always, I promise to be your husband, lover, partner, and friend. I promise you a life worthy of you."

It's hard not to love the guy when his actions, his words and his thoughts reflect a romantic at heart.

Christian Chase is no longer a hockey god. I am a husband, first and foremost. Or at least I will be. Soon. That's the most important title to me.

Memorable Moments: I'm sappy like that but I love that the blue Slurpee made a comeback. That it brought the whole story full circle was cute!

Would I recommend? Yes, I loved that this was a safe read. No OW drama (which is hard to find in sports romance) and I loved that the H wasn't a player or manwhore. Christian (with that one exception aka the break up scene) was really a great hero.

My life is about balance, about control. Me on the ice. Me on my own. I can't control the rumors, but I can control everything else. What I wear, what I drive, what I own, where I live.... So why do I feel out of control when Serena's around? --Christian Chase, the Cyclone

I have found a new genre that I love that has allowed me to get back into contemporary novels--the romcom! Just like their movie counterparts, they are filled with humor, wit, romance, misunderstandings, and ultimately "The Gesture" when the hero/heroine messes everything up and has to grovel for forgiveness, and the romance bug in me just loves them.

This novel contained so much lighthearted humor, especially from the heroine, and it made for some great scenes. I liked how fiery and sarcastic and confident she was, and even when she had her moments of insecurity, she cried it out and then managed to find her strength once again. Christian was so vulnerable and unsure of himself as well and where he came from, and I really felt all of his angst. Both are from very different worlds and are hesitant to join in a relationship, but they are unable to let the other go and decide to take a chance. There was a bit of insta-lust in the beginning of the novel, but in the second half we get more depth and conflict and it levels out a bit.

Overall, I really enjoyed this first novel of a new series. I would have liked for hockey to play a bigger role in the novel as I wanted to see more of the other players! I can't wait to see who the other hockey players meet their match in, especially Thor, the Mountain, and the Vampire. Definitely recommend this funny yet surprisingly deep and layered novel :)

"Christian is sexy as hell, rock hard, and kisses like no one I've ever known. I swear he is temptation incarnate. And I am tempted. Very, very tempted."

Yeah, #CoverLust strikes again. This beauty caught my attention and I decided to give a new-to-me author a try and I'm so thrilled to be Tracy Goodwin's new #FanGirl. I loved this story and will commence #Stalking.

Christian, aka Chris to his friends, is a very well known #HockeyHunk. He has a reputation as a manwhore and is photographed with tons of beautiful women, many of them models. But how much of that media hype is true? The fact that he doesn't deny or confirm the gossip makes you wonder what he's been up to, right? But all he cares about is hockey and his team. His job is to take the New York Nighthawks all the way and he takes his team captain responsibilities very seriously.

Chris doesn't have time for relationships and he never knows if a woman is really interested in him, or his celebrity and bank account. But when he runs into her, literally, it's obvious she has no clue who he is. That makes her irresistible, though he didn't think fast enough to get her number. He can't stop thinking about her and kicking his own ass for not learning more about her when he had the chance.

Serena is badass. I developed a girl crush on her immediately and couldn't wait for their explosive chemistry to...explode. She's been man-free for a long time. She's not usually tempted by a pretty face, but "His winks are sexy as hell, and I wonder if it is a habit. One he doesn't even notice. If so, it's a shame, because a wink from him is like finding a rare unicorn." She doesn't plan to kiss him, but once she does, her hockey god repellent stops working and a one-night-stand is back on the table.

Let me tell you, Ice Hot is very #HOT! I got so caught up in the story that I was ready to throw my Kindle more than once and I had to wipe the screen a time or two too. It got steamy! I highly recommend this book and I can't wait to get my grabby hands on the next installment in the series. The line forms here...

Christian was named captain of a new expansion team and has his eyes on the prize - leading his team to his third Stanley Cup. An accidental meeting involving a blue slushy and a beautiful woman, brings Serena into his life, and as he begins to fall for her, trouble erupts for the Nighthawks.

I love sports romances, especially hockey romances, and was eager to try this series. I am glad I did, because I loved both Chris and Serena. Chris was a "hockey god", but there was really a lot more to him than met the eye.

Christian's past was something he couldn't seem to shake. His need to be loved and to prove his worth was so strong, due to his relationship with his father. I love Chris' drive and that tender heart he carried around with him.

Serena was also dealing with difficult parents, who were overly judgmental and made her feel she would never be good enough. She was also in a field, which was not hospitable to larger sized women, but she challenged these ideas and battled the body shakers, and she did it well. I loved her sass, spirit, and independence. I was happy she had some fantastic people in her corner - her brother, his husband, her bestie, and her grandmother, who were all fabulous.

Serena and Chris were fabulous together. I loved their banter, their chemistry - I loved it all. When things got tough, I was rooting for them. I liked how they came from very different background, and that they were both very driven to be the best that they could be in their careers. But, I also loved seeing them realize there was more to live than their jobs and where they came from. It was about finding someone to make a future with and I was glad they were doing that together.

Overall: A solid start for the Nighthawks, and I am looking forward to seeing all of Chris' teammates find their HEAs.

I love books where the characters aren't what you are expecting...the woman who wants a one night stand and the man who doesn't. It switches the expectations of the story and it makes the characters feel different and fresh, which is a challenge in a genre that has a pretty expected story line, plot and ending.

Christian and Serena were, in some ways, what I was expecting and in others were not at all. I liked this, I liked that I felt like I was not able to predict most of this story. Their chemistry felt real and I thought the balance of the story that focused on his career also felt realistic. I hate it when a hero is a sports star, and you never see them in their sport...it's off season, or whatever the reason, but I really enjoyed the sports centered parts of this...there was enough of it, without it feeling like this was a book about hockey with a side of romance.

I did think that there were a few things with secondary characters that I thought took away from the story, but I was still able to enjoy the story overall.

I enjoyed and recommend this story.

I frequently found Serena acting immature (their first meeting, the bar, etc.), and this was a big turn off for me . Serena had major trust issues stemming from her teen years. She needed to let that go, get therapy, and not take her insecurities out on Chris. He seemed like a good guy from the start- considerate, honorable, and integrity all over the place. I loved Chris's patience and vulnerabilities with Serena and sex. So hawt. What happens when a team player forgets there's no "I" in team and sets about to cause major dischord fir Chris and Serena,!?! But, love prevails and eventually the couple gets a hea. I loved Savannah-she added spark to the story. Good read I recommend.

Review:
Surprisingly it took me a while to really get into this book. It just didn’t really grab and hold much attention until about 30% into the book. But once I finally got into it, I absolutely loved it!

I love Serena’s personality. She’s so real and strong, a truly wonderful and inspiring character. I love that she’s curvy and confident. She dons snark & sass like armor yet she’s not mean about it. It’s her natural defense system and I think it made her character really stand out.

Christian is charming and swoon-worthy with how he treats Serena (with the exception of when he was acting like an ass) and I like how he isn’t perfect. We get to see his vulnerability and insecurities which to be honest, are not all that common in the romance genre with the alpha male trend lately. Yes men can have insecurities, no it doesn’t make them weak, it makes them realistic. We all have self-doubts and I love that Tracy Goodwin incorporated that in Christian and Serena’s story.

Like I said, it took me a bit to get into the story, but once I got past those first few chapters, Serena really grasped my attention. I recommend Ice Hot to any readers who enjoy a sweet romance and some hot hockey player action.

I'm a sucker for hockey romance and this one was a great read.

I love Christian and Serena and their relationship. The progress of it was written beautifully, but the only problem I had was they just knew who was trying to sabotage their relationship. I wanted to know more about why he did what he did. But that didn't take away my liking off the book. I loved that Serena had a strong backbone and wouldn't take too much shit from anyone. I loved how he supported her. But being a guy, Christian did screw up but when he got his head on straight I fell for him even more.
"I can't live without you. I need you. I love you. I'm desperate. Desperate for you to forgive me. Desperate for you to love me even half as much as I love you." ***Swoooooon***

My first time reading Tracy Goodwin and I'm a huge fan. I can't believe I now have to wait until September (!!!) to see Nick finding his HEA just like these two did.

Great start to a new hockey series. In the story we get a glimpse at several NY Nighthawk players and I see some great stories coming our way. Christian Chase is the team captain and should be focused solely on the team and upcoming season but the incredibly sexy Serena Ellis has him slightly distracted.

I haven't read anything from the author before and after reading this book I must say I am a brand new fan. I very much enjoyed her storytelling style, characters, and story pace. I highly recommend this one to everyone.

UGH I could not get into this book. DNF 30% through. The whining was just absolutely annoying and pulled me away from the story. I enjoyed the banter in the beginning but then the story just became too immature. The constant talk about money and how Serena was burned by a jock at the age of 16.

I didn't just love/lust after Christian - what I truly enjoyed about this book was getting to know the other players on the team. I know I'm going to be #1clicking on the next one, and the next one, and happily binge as the Nighthawks pursue the Stanley Cup!

I really like this book. It is a feel-good story of love and romance. It covers some excellent subjects that definately relevant in today’s world. The main lead characters Serena's and Christian's romance and eventual love for one another is so realistic. The supporting characters are well developed and have wonderful personalities. This book includes a gay married couple. Serena's brother Lucas is married to Charlie and both are staunch supporters of Serena, her business and her personal life. Her grandmother, Savannah, is a hoot. She is eclectic in her manners and is a self-made woman. She has supported and championed Serena for all of her life. Savannah has been there for Serena because her parents did everything to body shame her because she is a BBW and look upon her fledgling business with distain. Her parents, Kathryn and Harrison Ellis are wealthy elitist snobs. They have always looked down on both Serena and her brother Lucas because they did not fit the mold of their perfect elitist lifestyle. Although emotionally hurt by their parents Serena and Lucas proudly live their lives in the open. Christian/Chris has had to take care of himself since he was a child. When his mother died, his father's gambling got out of control and he spent all his money for food and utilities on gambling without concern for feeding and caring for Christian. Christian worked hard to provide for himself and by extension, his father. Alone, unloved and uncared for, Christian spent his time excelling in all that he did. In the winter he would skate with used skates, and taught himself how to handle the ice. He kept those skates to always remind himself from where and what he came from. However, Christian's deep fear of never being loved for who he is strong. Because of his father, he fears rejection. He does not want to feel unloved. So, he has never had a relationship. As a pro hockey celebrity, women are constantly looking to attach themselves to his fame and fortune. When he meets Serena he is immediately attracted to her for her sassy snarky attitude and her rocking full figured body. Her confidence is an aphrodisiac to him. She does not treat him like a hockey god, but treats him like a normal guy. Serena has deep seated fears of her own. When she was sixteen, she had a traumatic experience with a boy. Since then, she has hardened her heart and is not willing to trust any man. She has never fully given herself to anyone and neither has Christian. Just when things are looking up for Christian and Serena, negative publicity drives a wedge between them. Christian knows who is behind it but he does not know how to deal with it. He breaks up with Serena in order to protect her, but all it does is cause anger, pain and insecurity. This is a wonderful book, very entertaining and full of emotion and drama. I highly recommend it. I received a free copy of this book via Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Oh Christian and Serena, how I loved your story! I love when two characters have such an intense and magnetic pull towards one another, that is not over the top, but just right. And for me, that is how Christian and Serena are. They meet in a funny, but genuine way with no possible way of their paths crossing again. But sure enough, they do. And this time it is hot, a little bit of fun, and then bam, smoking hot chemistry. I loved how their relationship progressed until Christian tried to do the right thing. Then frustration and heartbreak set in, not just theirs, but for me too. However, in the end, he will make you love him all over again. I want more from this series and cannot wait. Christian's teammates and Serena's best friend are very entertaining.

Christian, center and captain for the new hockey team in NY, the Nighthawks. He's won 2 Stanley Cups, hot, single, a drunk for a father who only calls when he needs money.
Serena, a rich girl disowned by her parents, has her gay brother and partner for business partners in her design business, a really neat grandmother, a 12- 14 size body that she promotes with her designs that she has insecurity issues issues with.
Throw in the Nighthawks with multiple personalities and one vindictive teammate to make life miserable for a budding romance between the two. You will love finding out how they conquer their parents, issues and Might Mouse. Hot, sweaty, action packed with humor and sexy bodies. Ice Hot is a great read. I can't wait for the next book.

What a book! Ice Hot is about a hockey star who is more than the public sees and the sassy heroine he falls for. For a relationship that begins with a frozen Slurpee being spilled all over the heroine, things get hot fast. I like that Chris and Serena were each broken in their own ways. I loved that they brought out the best in each other. I want a Chris in my life (he's my new favorite book boyfriend by far). This book also shows a realistic heroine who embraces her body type and advocates for no body shaming. It's seductive, romantic, funny and gives a positive message. The heroine has spunk. I love a sassy heroine.

Serena just loves to tease her man, “this dress is hiding the fact that I’m rocking a very sexy thong today. I would have gone commando, your personal favorite, but we are meeting with my parents, after all. I need to show some modicum of respect.” She places her free hand over my shoulder. “Though I may be going the discreet route, it does slide off easily.” I think Chris is sometimes jealous that his woman gives his dog more attention than him, "I missed you too, Puck.” Serena kneels on the floor. My dog is getting more attention than I am.." I loved this book, I ell in love with Chris.

M/F Romance
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

Serena is an amazing woman who has her own business and in spite of her upbringing, is compassionate and kind. She loves her brother and his husband, tolerates her parents and loves her grandma. Serena is all about loving who she is. Despite not being stick thin, she wants women to be proud of themselves and designs clothes to support them in doing just that. She has a past where men and women have shamed her and it has taken a while for her self-esteem to build to what it is. When she meets Christian, her world is turned upside down.

Christian is used to having women fall at his feet. Having won two Stanley Cups before, he's charged with helping his new team do just that... win another cup. But, with teammates who want to challenge him, are unwilling to be team players, Christian has his work cut out for him. When he meets Serena, his world changes for the better.

Despite loving each other, with their professional lives in turmoil, it will take all of their wits to be strong. And, with forces outside of their relationship working against, them, it is a tough road to plow. I really loved their story. It was somewhat predictable, but that was OK with me. I still really enjoyed their story and can't wait to see who gets the next one. I was slightly disappointed we didn't get more closure for Christians issues, but overall, this was a feel good story. I can't wait to see what or who is next.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

I do love a good hockey romance and this one does not let me down. Christian is the new captain of the Nighthawks, an expansion team. One of his jobs is to foster a team environment, create unity among a bunch of guys who were on opposing teams just a year ago. Its hard, but Christian knows that he can do it.

Serena is the lone black sheep in her family of over achievers. Born to privilege, she's had everything she's ever wanted, except for her parents to love her as she is. Thankfully her grandmother is around to give her what she needs to foster and grow.

When Christian sets his sights on Serena, she's not sure if she can handle a relationship with a hockey star but soon realizes that life with him is much better than a life of regrets.

I can't wait for the second book in this series!!

If you like your steamy romance with a special bond between the two main characters that evokes so much emotion you feel it down to your toes, Chris and Serena's story is for you. Neither was looking for love, and both thought they were too busy, but when fate puts them together, their lives are irrevocably changed. He's the captain of the new professional hockey expansion team, and she's busy trying to launch her clothing design business. But from the first time they meet, there's an undeniable connection between them that won’t be ignored.

More and more, we're seeing authors use their work to highlight various social issues. That can be a double-edged sword, because if taken too far it can alienate the reader. Goodwin strikes a nice balance, showing the heart and emotion behind the issue while giving her heroine a spine of steel and strong voice while still wrestling with self-doubt. In doing so Serena comes across as authentic and endearing, engaging the reader and easily winning her over. As strong and accomplished as Chris is, his old insecurities cropping up make him seem more human and, with the exception of an instance of self-sabotage, relatable and loveable.

Most of the book takes place prior to the hockey season, so the bulk of the sports aspect is what occurs behind the scene and in preparation of the season, which is a fresh take on a hockey romance. There is still plenty of dealing with the fame and public opinion of dating a hockey player, as well as disagreeable parents on both sides, all of which provide for the conflict in the book. I liked both Chris and Serena and had no trouble connecting with them, which easily had me invested in the outcome of their story. The secondary characters were vivid and colorful, and the guys on the team, especially, left me wanting more of the New York Nighthawks. I’m ready to buy a team jersey, and I can't wait to see what comes next in this series!

Hockey romances or just sport romances in general are another one of those kryptonite reads for me! I simply can't stay away from them. ICE HOT was a first time read from this author and even though this story wasn't quite up there with some of my favorites (that list is extensive), I definitely enjoyed Chris and Serena's story!
