Thief with 'empty hole' heart stealing holiday decorations, police say
A Grinch is on the loose in Wrentham and is targeting outdoor holiday decorations, police warn.
Wrentham police said Christmas decorations have been stolen from yards, including lawn projectors, a blow-up Santa, a blow-up snowman and decorative lights. The thefts have been reported on Dedham Street and in other neighborhoods.
"These are expensive decorations and we'd love nothing more than to nab the thief whose heart is an empty hole," Wrentham police wrote on Facebook. "If anyone can point us in the direction of this seasick crocodile, please call the WPD at 508-384-2121. We truly want to stop this nasty, wasty skunk!"
Police said there are some ways residents can protect their decorations, including by pointing home surveillance cameras at the items or where it can capture a vehicle's license plate.
"Adding a wire/cable from your decoration secured to a nearby tree or the house. Attach noisy objects (bells, chimes, etc.) to the electrical cord/cable to create a ruckus when moved," police said.
Police also suggested positioning motion detector lights to go on if someone is near the decorations.
