PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) -

Hangar space at the Presque Isle International Airport is in high demand, with another unit set to be built this year.

Scott Wardwell, Director of the airport, says a 5-unit hangar complex is being built near the existing commercial hangars. Each unit will be large enough to house a small-engine aircraft.

“We’ve been working on it quite some time. We actually got a grant from Northern Borders a number of years ago to offset some of the cost, and the remaining cost are actually paid for out of proceeds from the - the monthly rents that - that the folks will be paying,” says Scott Wardwell.

Wardwell says pre-engineered and pre-manufactured hangar was designed with the help of those who'll be using it. He says all five units are already spoken for, with five-year lease agreements in place for each of the spaces. Construction will soon get underway, with the new building to be adjacent to two existing hangars.
