A group of middle school singers in Plattsburgh raised money last year to produce their first album, and is preparing to compete in an international vocal competition next month. Fermata Nowhere, Stafford Middle School's a cappella group, released its first professionally record music CD, "Shine," at a party last month.

Director Cody Hampton says recording the CD and a music video were "amazing experiences" for the young singers. The group's music can be found digitally through iTunes, Spotify and Pandora.

For the last couple of years, the ensemble has participated in the South Glens Falls a cappella showcase - the only middle school group to perform at the event. Hampton, who grew up in nearby Champlain, NY, says he started teaching vocal music in Plattsburgh in 2016, and Fermata Nowhere began singing just two years ago.
