Dorothy Swazee Memorial Fund
Established October 2020
Dorothy Swazee of Rothschild had a perspective on life that not many people can claim. She was born in October 1915 in Stevens Point and grew up there. She became a school teacher, a violinist, and a Suzuki violin teacher. She was a wife and mother, having raised three children.
Dorothy was a pillar of the music education community. Dorothy not only helped establish the Suzuki program in Wausau, but also taught there for 10 years. Dorothy also established the Lakeland Area Suzuki Program and taught students from Wausau, Minoqua and the surrounding areas.
The fund will be used to provide scholarships to violin students at the Wausau Conservatory of Music.
