Making Waves Lecture Series

Join us this Wednesday, February 22 at 5:00pm for a Making Waves presentation and book sigining by David Neiwert, author of Of Orcas and Men: What Killer Whales Can Teach Us. This event is free and open to the public.

David Neiwert is a Seattle-based award-winning freelance journalist and blogger. His latest book has been described as a compelling mix of cultural history, environmental reporting, and scientific research on orcas, otherwise known as killer whales.

In the book, David explores the relationship of killer whales with humans -- beginning with their role in myth and contemporary popular culture, showing how the species came to capture the imagination of the public, and examining the environmental consequences of that appeal.

David has a great love and appreciation for killer whales stemming from various personal encounters with this species throughout his life, stories about which he will share during his presentation.

In 2016, David Neiwert was also a panelist for Pacific Whale Foundation's Digital Chat with the Experts about marine mammals in captivity.
