Dirty-Talking Cowboy is book one in the new series, Kinky Spurs by Stacey Kennedy. Everyone that knows me knows that I have a thing for cowboys. Stacey Kennedy is a new to me author so when I saw that her new series featured one very hot cowboy, I decided this was the perfect time to get to know this author and my oh my am I glad I did.

“Come to Kinky Spurs, where cowboys wrangle women’s hearts…and rope their bodies!”

Emma Monroe loved her life in New York as an Executive Creative Director for a prestigious firm. She had been in a relationship with the CEO, Jake, for a year but they kept it secret, until word got out and Jake broke her heart. At the same time, Emma just got word of her beloved Grams death in River Rock, Colorado. Gram owned a small farm where she took in and cared for abused animals. It was always Emma’s place where she went for renewal, for recharging. Now, her Grams has left the farm to her. With a broken heart and spirit, Emma escapes to the farm to try to decide what to do with her life now.

female bartender

This life couldn’t be any more different than what her life was in New York. Different but not in a bad way. Will she sell the farm and go back to the life she knew? Could she really adjust to life in the country? To stay busy, she takes a part time job as a bartender at Kinky Spurs. That’s how she first saw him, the sexiest cowboy she has ever seen. When he walked in, it’s all she could do to tear her eyes away from him. After that he has kept coming in pretty regularly but she has to be strong. She does not need a man further complicating her life, even if it’s only for one night.

working with horse in circle pen

Shep Blackshaw has just lost his father, the owner and CEO of the huge company, Blackshaw Cattle Company. Shep has his own business, Blackshaw Survival, a wilderness survival training company. He is not interested in getting involved in his father’s business but when he finds out that Blackshaw Cattle is in financial difficulties, he has some important decisions to make.

When he walked in to Kinky Spurs and saw the new bartender, he was transfixed. She was all he could think about. You could practically hear the sizzle between them whenever he got close to her. But it was obvious she was as scared as a new born colt. This woman had been hurt.

When a bar roping game pairs Shep and Emma, the sparks fly and Shep knows he has to have this woman. More importantly, he wants to earn her trust, he wants to get to know her. Shep is a fixer, when he sees someone that needs something, he takes care of it. He has so much on his shoulders right now. Should he really be taking on this woman? But he can’t resist her.

“No matter how much bad there is in the world, there is always light, and a warm place that’s home.”

home

When a broken and abused horse is brought to Emma’s farm, the horse becomes an inspiration for Emma. If the horse won’t give up, maybe she won’t either. Maybe there is hope for the both of them?

“This woman had him caught up. He wanted more from her, and if she’d stop being so scared, she’d see they were already on their way to something amazing.”

blindfold

I loved this book. Shep was a dirty talking, take control, sexy as sin cowboy with a heart of gold. He fell fast for Emma but he knew he had to be careful not to rush her. Emma and Shep together burned up the pages. Or rather, melted the entire e-reader! I also fell in love with Shep’s two brothers and Mom. I will admit that I am hooked. There is no way I’m not going to continue with this series. The next book is Sweet-Loving Cowboy and is Shep’s brother Chase’s story and you can most definitely count on me reading it!

4.5 Living Up To The Title Stars
* * * * 1/2 Spoiler Free-99 Cents Limited Time!!!
Oh, Be Still My Cowboy Lovin' Heart...As I was sneak reading this book, not expecting to be so taken with it so soon, I realized Stacey Kennedy wasn't pulling any punches with this delicious tale. Right from the start, she set up a clear picture of her "Dirty Talking Cowboy"....the man who would walk in a room and immediately take control...with his gate, his presence and with his intense stare. From the moment Shep Blackshaw strolled into the bar, Kinky Spurs, the air shifted and Emma Monroe was caught like a deer in headlights.

Stacey Kennedy gives us one hell of a prologue and first chapter. They were so steamy, I had to look around and check if anyone was looking at me during my lunch break while I read...Because I was stunned... I forgot I had read Stacey Kennedy once before and noted how hot Heartbreaker (Filthy Dirty Love) was https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

This is the first entry to a new series based around the bar Kinky Spurs, the owner, employees, and the Blackshaw brothers. This story laid all the groundwork. We met the brothers, their possible/probable love interests and how all of it will come together.

Shep Blackwell is the eldest and his family has owned one of the largest cattle companies in Colorado. It was the family's pride and joy as the father worked hard to make it all happen. The three sons each have had their own focus on other careers, not wishing to run the ranch. With the father's recent untimely death, each is feeling the loss. The hard reality is that the father withheld the facts that business has been off for a while...and it will be up to these men to figure out what the next step is...

Emma Monroe has moved back to her Grandma's farm. It was her death and the humiliating realization her year-long relationship with the CEO of the company she worked for was nothing but a diversion for him. She had worked hard for all of her promotions and had been respected as a marketing professional in the cut-throat market of New York City. Then her "Down Low" relationship with the CEO was discovered and everything went to shit. The man who she thought loved her, turned his back on her... destroying her reputation. Her only recourse was to run to the farm and take a moment...

Emma's Grandma was known for taking in animals no one else wanted or could handle...She was known as an animal whisperer of sorts...Emma grew up visiting and wanted to do right by the animals on the farm, too. While she was trying to figure out her life, she decided to work the farm and work part-time bartending at Kinky Spurs.

It was there for the last three weeks, this dynamic cowboy would come in and the air would change... Emma would know immediately to look his way...and she would see him... staring directly at her...first from a distance and then this time he walked up and flat out approached her...acknowledging the chemistry that was happening just from a look!

Emma had sworn off men... casual sex and really any sex at all.... only her body was vetoing this idea whenever this cowboy was around...Emma needed to shut this down and told him she couldn't date customers...

The next thing she knows her boss has her participating as part of one of the bar's events... a huge draw called rope'em up...where men lasso and wrist tie their girls for prizes...all fun and a little kinky. Emma is paired with this Cowboy and OMG...She can hardly breathe...just the idea of getting close, having him working this rope and controlling her sparks something she never experienced before...and when he talks low into her ear warning her to stop her movements against him... Oh My...Emma is caught and maybe doesn't want to be cut loose...

These two have this dynamic start and it continues. Emma isn't the only one who has been hurt emotionally. Shep had his own love issues and he wasn't in a position to deal with any complications either...But this woman was something very different... and when circumstances bring them together once again...the dye has been cast...These two are destined to figure out each is for the other.

The angst for these two deals with understanding where you can belong... and allowing yourself to accept the love that is good for you. The chemistry is extremely solid between Shep and Emma... both work, both get off on him being in charge...she feels cared for and he is a bit of caveman but in a good way...

Whew...so the verdict of this new series is quite enjoyable. Stacey has put together enemy-families who interconnect, who have conflicts and who are harboring feelings for each other. There also is a best friend's little sister all grown up and star-crossed with one of the Blackshaw brothers.

Expect the next entry Sweet-Loving Cowboy in the Fall of 2018.

I actually enjoyed this one quite a bit, and it probably would have been a 4-Star read, but I got tired of how hung up this heroine was on her ex. Jake this, and Jake that...Jake, Jake, Jake ad nauseam. Now being she had JUST broken up with him a month earlier, it was probably a realistic reaction, but for ME it just brought my enjoyment of the story down a bit. Other than that, this was a very enjoyable book. I loved the hero. It had some interesting side characters. Although I am not sure, I will sign up for the brother's books, especially Nash's since it was obvious he and Megan had a "thing" but he had sex with at least one other women in this book. And I hate the whole "bro code" trope which is what Chase and Harper's book looks to be shaping up as. There was no OW or OM drama. Neither were virgins. Shep seemed to be a bit of a manwhore, or at the very least, he had a reputation that is thrown in the heroines face a smidge. The sex scenes were hot and relatively plentiful, and last, it was all wrapped up in a sweet ending.

A dirty-talking cowboy? It would be rude not to.

description Come to Kinky Spurs, where cowboys wrangle women’s hearts…and rope their bodies!”

Smokin’ hot with fabulous characters and indeed a dirty-talking and very delicious cowboy, this was a great introduction to Stacey Kennedy’s writing. Granted the opening couple of chapters could have flowed better and it had a bit of an insta-feel, but that mattered not because Shep and Emma were pretty much perfect together.

description

Shep Blackshaw is the full package. The perfect balance of alpha and dominant and gentle and considerate, and with a canny knack of being able to read both people and animals, he was so easy to fall in love with. And mesmerised by Emma Monroe working the crowded bar at Kinky Spurs, it’s not long before he has her tied up in knots. Literally.

description If you want me, Emma, come and have me. It’s that simple.”

Emma is certainly no wallflower, but she does have a slight and very understandable fragility to her after a bad break-up. I loved her tenacity and sweeter nature, and Shep is the perfect person to help her find herself again.

description I want to remember what it’s like to be a woman. I want to feel alive again. I want to take my power back.”

A strong, sexy and promising start to the series and having being introduced to Shep’s younger brothers, Chase and Nash, I‘m excited to see what their stories will bring. And based on the fact that it’s two of my favourite tropes—his best friend’s sister and enemies-to-lovers—they can’t come soon enough.

description No one was perfect, but sometimes two people fit together in the most perfect way.”

Wow, Stacey Kennedy that is the way to combine a scorching hot erotic read with a tender and heartwarming story. I loved it.
Great start to this "Kinky Spurs" series.
Emma and Shep were dynamite together. One hot cowboy with a heart of gold and one city girl with a broken heart.
Shep also has two equally hot brothers that I am seriously excited to read more about. Hopefully they will get their books soon.

4 - "There's something here between us... I want to explore it." Stars!

My first venture into the writing imagination of Stacey Kennedy, turned out to be a pretty good one, with Dirty-Talking Cowboy ticking all the boxes in relation to a quick, easy, sexy read, with extra rope thrown in for good measure.

So many regrets… She had so many.

Kinky Spurs is the bar that Emma Monroe finds herself working part time in when her high flying life in New York combusts around her. Add in to the fact the beloved Gran has just died and left her farm/animal shelter to deal with as well, you can understand that her return to River Rock, Colorado has not left her in the happiest of mind-sets.

There wasn’t a hint of weakness in him… This guy was all man, right down to his toned, muscular body.

So meeting sexy cowboy Shep Blackshaw, across the crowded Kinky Spurs bar-top and feeling an instant connection to him, is not something she really wants to feel or is initially interested in exploring… That is until he ropes her up one evening as part of a bar challenge, and she cannot deny the chemistry fizzing between them any longer.

He shouldn’t want to start anything with her, and yet here they were…

I absolutely loved Shep in this one, totally the dominant, dirty-talking, alpha cowboy, but he handled Emma just as gently as one of her abused animals at points, knowing exactly when she needed a bit of his own special brand of rough, and when she needed something deeper. Their coming together is a bit ‘insta’ in that she’s running from the collapse of one relationship, and falling for him whilst still getting over it, but I didn’t mind. Shep let her work through her issues, without pushing his growing feelings on her until the time was right.

"Don’t hide… You don’t ever have to do that with me."

The author hit the ground running with this one, I won’t lie, the first few chapters could have done with some more work in my own personal opinion, they were jumpy, and badly laid out. Several times I had to go back and re-read things to understand what the author was trying to get across, and where the POV was coming from, but once the story got going the flow seemed to smooth out.

"When I play… I deliver."

Plenty of diverse sexy-times itoo, so if you are looking for a decent story line, with lots of (sometimes kinky) playtime thrown in, then Shep and Emma delivered in spades on that front.

"I’m a better me with you…"

The Blackshaw family were also introduced in general as well, with brothers Nash and Chase offering up plenty of things for this reader to like and be intrigued about them, and the author hinted pretty heavily that she will be using two of my favorite tropes in their books, ‘brothers best friend’ and ‘frenemies to lovers’ are generally winners for me so I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series. And I am hoping that it won’t be limited to just the Blackshaw family, there were quite a few secondary characters that were introduced along the way that left me with the thought 'I wonder if he/she will be getting a book…', so things have been crossed in the hope the author has plenty of steam and stories left to write in the Kinky Spurs series.

"Be close…"

Chase and Harper are up next in; Sweet-Loving Cowboy, due for release later this year.

So dang hot and so dang good!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You know you’re in for a fabulous read when the first few pages break you into a sweat. This book is everything it promises and then some.
With a dirty-talking hot, muscular, sexy-ass cowboy at your fingertips, who needs a stuffy executive from New York City? Even though your life is in shambles and everything’s all up in the air is there a question of what you should be doing or where you should be? That’s what poor Emma is trying to figure out.
I love this book. Not only is it a heart pounding, pulse racing, fan your face experience, but it is fun, lighthearted, and a fabulous part of a new contemporary romance series that’s not to be missed.
Stacy Kennedy writes from the heart and she has a passion for her stories that comes through in amazing ways. The delicate balance of the right amount of heat and passion, the expert detail and creation of her characters, and the understanding of what makes a beautiful story flow perfectly is evident in this book.
Dirty-Talking Cowboy is a Delicious experience that you need in your life. And Shep? Let's just say, Oh My! He can light me up anytime!
Now Ms. Kennedy, how long will it be till we get to the other brothers??? Tick Tock.........
4 Kinky Spur Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟
This was a spicy sassy romance filled with beautiful scenery and gorgeous Cowboys... there is always something so alluring about a small town romance... makes this city girl want to pack her bags and head to the country....
Emma finds herself at her grandma‘s farm trying to sort things out after heartache and her grandma’s death... Emma left her life in New York where she loved her job and she thought she loved her former boss... can this city girl find what she needs in the country...Shep... Love the guy, hate the name... should not be thinking about the new girl in town, he has a cattle ranch to save....
I really liked both Emma and Shep... I found the chemistry between them real and they seemed so perfect for one another... there is Insta love in this book, so if that is not your thing you are forewarned.... The only part of this book that I didn’t love was when Jake came around, I just thought that part didn’t need to happen, but clearly that is my own opinion... can’t wait for the next books in this series, I found Shep’s brothers Chase and Nash a little more intriguing than him...
Absolutely recommend to fans of romance, Cowboys, spice, and love💕
Dirty-talking cowboy who knows how to use a rope is just perfect for Emma who's been hurt and come home to lick her wounds. Shep steps in and shows her what real love is. Shep's hurting after losing his father and possible his father's business, but it's Emma's turn to help him.
I'm pretty sure I know who both of his brothers are going to wind up with. I just can't wait to watch the fireworks.
Emma's reputation has been tarnished with her job as an Executive Creative Director in New York City when a co-worker witness her kissing the CEO. A man who she has been secretly dating for a year. A man who didn't stick up for her when rumors abound.
On top of her career crashing around her, her Grams passes away and leaves the farm in Colorado to her. Emma's not quite ready to go back and face the music with her job, she stays at the farm temporarily until she decides what to do next and taking on a part time bar-tending job at the Kinky Spurs bar.
This is where Emma meets Shep. Shep is pure intense Alpha who captures her attention from the moment he walks into the bar. Still fresh with hurt from the last guy, she's determined to ignore the intense attraction between these two. Despite issues of his own, Shep won't let her ignore him.
I was so excited to see that Stacey Kennedy has a new series coming out. I have pretty much loved everything of hers I've read. Dirty-Talking Cowboy is one of those books that was good but for me I had a hard time with Emma's character and I think that squelched some of my enjoyment from the story. I loved everything else about this book. It's great writing, great side characters and I loved Shep's intensity.
There was absolutely no pushing away from Shep and he was so patient with Emma. He really made for a great Hero. I think the brothers stories are going to have a bit more angst due to who I think they will paired with.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I have to admit that this story surprised me. I thought this might be one note and I worried that I would not be engaged. I was wrong. This was a story that flowed from the beginning and had a continuous flow that left you wanting more.
Emma moves to her grandma's home after she learns she has passed away. The timing was perfect since she had recently broken up with her boyfriend. While nursing a broken heart, she meets her neighbor, Shep, and he's got eyes on her.
Emma is injured while trying to care for a horse on her farm. She discovers her and makes it his mission to get her back to health. She is beginning to have feelings for him as they spend more time together and is terrified of losing her heart to him since her broken heart is on the mend. Shep is also balancing his feelings for Emma and the current status of his family ranch. He has some big decision s to make that will have a huge impact on his future.
I liked this story and am looking forward to the next installment, the first book introduced us to many characters with enough interest to want more.
After Emma's nightmare comes true she goes to live at her grandmother's house to try to sort out what her next move should be. In walks the sexy as sin cowboy-Shep- and the attraction they both have is HOT!!! Shep & Emma dance around each other until they no longer can fight the pull and end up combusting.
Emma suffers an accident and Shep's with her throughout the whole ordeal and I've gotta say that she had me laughing because she says her secrets and thoughts out loud and Shep finds out some juicy things. These two were perfect for each other and I couldn't get enough of them.
A sweet read with the right amount of sexiness and sass! Kara~4 Stars
Dirty-Talking Cowboy by Stacey Kennedy is book One in the Kinky Spurs series. This is the story of Emma Monroe and Shep Blackshaw.
Emma has come to River Rock, Colorado to settle things after her Grandmother's death but she also has things she need to work through of what happen to her in NY and what is next for her. While doing that she has taken a job working at the Kinky Spurs which is where she meets Shep.
Shep to is working on things trying too, by trying to save the family business, Blackshaw Cattle Company. Shep doesn't have time for anything else but they can't seem to fight their attraction. They give into their attraction but is soon there headed to something much stronger.
Enjoyed their story and can't wait for more book in this series!
Adorable romance you won’t want to miss.
Emma returns to the safe haven of her grandmother’s farm after she passes, leaving the farm and the rescue animals in Emma’s care.
The sexy and hard to resist cowboy from the ranch next door, Shep, rescues Emma from being dragged by a severly abused horse. Shep vows to keep Emma safe, even if it means getting up close and personal with not just to Emma but the abused horse.
Shep will do his best to show Emma how to truly love and be loved and maybe heal her heart…but will Shep’s heart be broken if she returns to her old life?
Sultry and sexy all wrapped up in an amazing heart felt romance!
This was a case where I loved the book a lot better than I loved the title. You could reasonable expect someone who drops the F bomb every other, but instead, Shep Blackshaw is an upstanding guy with a strong sense of responsibility, a ton of patience and the dirty talking is designed to increase his lady's arousal. In this case, his lady is Emma Monroe, who was badly burned in her last relationship and fled a rewarding career in New York City to take over her grandmother's farm where she rescue's abused animals.
Shep and Emma are drawn to each other but she turns him down-until he begins helping her with an abused horse that has injured her. The relationship builds quickly in spite of the fact that Shep and his brothers are faced with a major dilemma involving their father's business and Emma isn't certain she wants to stay away from NYC. Then Emma's past throws a monkey wrench into the works. Can these two make a relationship work?
Both Emma and Shep are strong, compelling characters and their romance is heart-warming. Overall, this was a really good book, with some really hot sex scenes, characters that you care about, and an easy to follow plot.
Loved this book!!! Not only was there a dirty-talking cowboy in here, but there was also plenty of heart and humor that made me never want to put this down.
Don’t let the title fool you.
There’s much more to this story.
Emma is a big city gal who heads to Colorado after she was willed her grandmother’s farm. Plus she needed to escape the heartbreak and humiliation her ex caused. While she was working at Kinky Spurs, she meets (and can’t keep her eyes off) a sexy AF cowboy with beautiful eyes and a killer smile.
The pull between her & Shep Blackshaw (even his name is sexy) was strong, their chemistry sizzled. My kindle was ON FIRE. That scene where they were up on the stage for the roping contest…frickin’ hot.
Of course, neither one was looking for a relationship, but they couldn’t help where their desires led them. There was no resisting when the banter was fun and their passion was powerful.
Watching the big city girl grow and learn things about herself was heartwarming and made me smile. Seeing her realize what she wanted, what she needed, what was right in front of her was a beautiful thing. Was she a little too hung up on her ex? Yes. But it both satisfied and relieved me when she finally snapped out of it and figured out where her heart was and where her home needed to be.
This story warmed my heart, made me smile, and gave me some delicious tingles.
This was my first read from Stacey Kennedy and I can’t wait to read more!
I think I’m not the intended audience for this book. Even though I have specifically requested for this book, I did not particularly enjoy it. I was not a huge fan of the heroine. Not because she was a bad person but I just couldn’t connect. As you can see I struggled to finish it by the dates!
Also I didn’t enjoy the angst created by the ex. This book had enough issues to create angst without the added drama. It also reduced the heroine’s charm for me. If the heroine could consider going back to her ex, then her love for hero loses its credibility. Realistic, yes. Romantic, hardly.
I also hated how the hero involved himself with dealing with the ex. That was stepping over the line. He really overstepped his boundaries there. She was not his property, she is a grown adult, and she can and should deal with her own problems, including her ex. Too bad if the results don’t live up to the hero’s standards.
As I said, I’m not the intended audience. This was a well written book.
If you don’t mind bossy heroes and a little bit of ex drama, give this book a go.
This was a steamy read and I loved the cover to this, it fit Shep perfectly and the title pretty much says it all, he is the best kind of dirty talking cowboy :)
Quick Summary: Emma has taken over her late grandmother’s farm, she’s kind of hiding out, not really knowing what to do next with her life. After busting her bum in the city and finally getting a sought after promotion, the man she was dating (who also happened to be the CEO of the company where she worked) didn’t stand up for her when rumors about their romance got out. Hurt and disillusioned, Emma has been healing a broken heart in the country.
Shep is the complete opposite of her ex, he’s strong and supportive, protective and possessive and Emma finds it too easy to loose herself in him. But Emma is coming out of a bad break up and isn’t sure she’s ready for anything serious yet.
Shep and his brothers, just lost their father and have just been told that the family cattle company isn’t doing as well as their father had made it out to be. On the brink of bankruptcy and with the real possibility of losing everything their father built, the brothers are scrambling to figure out a way to save the last link to their family legacy, without losing their own dreams along the way.
With everything feeling so out of control, Emma feels like a safe harbor for him, with her he can be himself. She makes him feel and it doesn’t take him long to set out to claim all of her for himself.
“I know exactly what you want, sweetheart, and that’s losing your goddamn mind beneath my hands.” ~ Shep
Oh, Shep. Hands down a great MC. He was sweet and understanding and not only hot with a sexy bit of kink thrown in, he was a genuinely awesome guy. I loved him. I loved the way he was with his mom, with his brothers, with Bentley, Emma, and even the easy friendships he had with Megan and Harper. He was definitely an alpha and provider.
Emma was sweet and a little wary at the strong pull she feels towards Shep. But she also doesn’t back down from a challenge, especially when Shep is issuing it. I definitely felt for her and her situation. Although not ideal, her emotional turmoil did fit her character. I loved that she was able let go of the past and adapt to a new future, one that she didn’t plan but still loved.
Memorable Moments:
For the heat alone – Emma’s naughty dream *fans self* this girl has a really good imagination, lol! But it ultimately gets 2nd place after that scorching hot fence scene, it was brimming with sexual tension and their chemistry was tangible.
His eyes narrowed, his voice going low, seductively serious. “Turn around to the fence.”
She knew that look now, when his eyes became firmer, when his voice held more authority. She spun around in a second, more than ready for what came next.
Would I recommend?
Yes, if you’re in the mood for a dirty talking cowboy with a naughty kinky side, meet Shep!
4 Stars
Stacey Kennedy has written a refreshing story that has a lot of heart and the perfect amount of heat. Sexy and rugged blended perfectly with sweet and romantic.
Emma is a city girl through and through. She had a high-profiled job and lived in New York. To move on after a failed relationship, there is no better plan than picturesque River Rock and the hobby farm she has inherited from her grandmother.
The hero, Shep Blackwell, was a very sexy and alpha cowboy who had a very romantic streak that made this book sigh worthy! Stacey Kennedy always brings out the sexiness in her characters. I also loved how Shep was there for Emma to help her with learning the ropes of running a farm that was also a sanctuary for abused animals. The two of them together were off the charts hot. They were truly the perfect complement to each other. They both wanted to explore what was between them. Their chemistry felt genuine and while the plot was predictable the characters made it enjoyable.
Both Emma and Shep were developed as well rounded individuals, with good and bad traits. The dialogue was fun, playful and emotional. Packed with small town life, interesting characters, great family dynamics, real life issues and tender romance, this book is a great start to a new series.
I can't wait for more!
4.5 amazing 🌟 🌟🌟🌟!! Ok .... First time for a book of Stacey Kennedy and surely won't be the last !! Indeed Shep was a dirty talking cowboy with an Alpha male attitude but with a heart made of gold!!! On the other hand Emma had a broken heart with trust issues!! The connection between them from the start is undeniable and you can feel it while you are reading. I loved it...and I may have a thing for cowboy romances now!!! Excellent read!!
A sassy, sexy read! I enjoyed the story, setting, and characters in this erotic contemporary western! A sexy, smokin' hot yet sweet & sincere hero + a heroine nursing a broken heart & loss of dreams & trust. Can they find a way to take their attraction to the next level? A Must Read for fans of sexy cowboys (note the title - "Dirty-Talking"!) and the sassy women they hope to tame!
On the day Emma learns of her Gram’s death, she also learns that the man who she believed to be her forever was not going to stand up for her. Leaving New York for a small town in Colorado, she takes over her grandmother’s farm. She has a lot of healing to do to get beyond the broken trust her ex left her with. She was not expecting to get tied up by a cowboy at Kinky Spurs.
Shep was hot to rope Emma in from the first time he saw her. When the opportunity presents itself, he grabs the reins and holds on. He’s got a lot on his plate these days after his father’s death and running his own business. Shep is a fixer and he’s determined he’s going to fix the problems that the Blackshaw Brothers have just learned about. And if she’ll let him, he’d like to help fix Emma’s problems as well.
This was a great cowboy story with plenty of interactions with horses as well as some other livestock curtesy of Emma’s Gram. I loved the way Shep stepped up to help Emma when she was in a little over her head. He has had his own heart broken and he is so patient and kind while he waits for Emma to find her way to him.
This is very well written and deeper than I originally expected it to be. While there is plenty of humor, at the core of this story is the love of family and learning to rebuild trust within yourself. Emma’s transition from fear of her own choices to determination to be what Shep needs in his woman was heartfelt.
There are secondary characters all over the place that I suspect will be getting their own stories and after reading this first installment in the series I’m curious to see how the rest is going to play out. This is my first book by this author and I am looking forward to reading more from her.
DNF 48%. Didn’t care about the characters, or their relationship, or what was happening to them.
And if he “tucked his finger under her chin” one more time, I was ready to chop it off.
Well wasn't this a gem. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Stacey Kennedy can write a great story with some hot sex! I am so excited about this series. I wish I had Noah and Chase's stories now! Three hot cowboy brothers... yum!
What I loved:
Hero = new book boyfriend
Steam level - was appropriate and hot
Secondary characters ~~ amazing and lovable, even the animals!
3 Kinky Spurs Stars
So before I get into my review I wanted to let you all know where my brain is at.
I discovered this author this year due to being blessed with an arc for Bought by the Boss by Stacey Kennedy which released in Feb of this year (2018) and I thought well this is an author I would read again.. and then like most reviewers do we forget! and then I was offered an ARC of this book... what are the odds?!! so I was like yes lets read this immediately... lets move to the review now !
description
This story is about Shep and Emma. Our two main characters are actually set up a bit differently than most books!!! aren't you totally intrigued. So both of our characters have moved "temporarily" to River Rock, Colorado to take care of family matters. Both of our characters have the mindset that they will put their ducks in a row and move back to where they came from. and both of our characters came to the city due to the loss of a loved one
Starting the book I was a bit interested in Emma's backstory.. because dang I wanted to punch her past in the face ( yeah I am not going to ruin it for you) ... and I liked Emma in her little bar outfit and inability to know how attractive she is..
now Shep... I will drool over him until the cows come home. He is the epitome of cowboy and alpha male. Overprotective ... and overly perfect!!!
delicious
..I think what hurts me with this book is the sex scene/dirty talk to me doesn't fit the characters. I am about some kink but I couldn't relate it to Shep.
I learned a long time ago that's what gets me off. Kinky play is my type of foreplay. I like to push the boundaries of sex to intensify the high until we explode together
When we come ,it's together. always
hot sounding right... so why didn't it work??!!!
this really didn't work much for me.. its on the short end (less than 300) .. and I found myself in seriously skim mode.
DIRTY TALKING COWBOY is pure cowboy magic!!! Stacey Kennedy has unleased a sexy new series Kinky Spurs and I am here to confirmed: Rope 'em ladies and Shep Blackshaw can be yours too.
Emma and Shep knows how to keep things smokin'. Together, they are super hot, steamy and dreamy.
Save A Horse. Ride A Cowboy.
Kennedy created the perfect storyline to make this sexy quote true. Emma and Shep's care of abused animals is the main reason why I love this story so much. She gave us heart-warming in the midst of an erotic love story. It's a great balance between sexy and emotional. It will capture your attention, heart and keep you rooting for their love and his family.
