How Do You Deal With the Daily Grind at BUD/S Training?

navy seal buds hell week mud thJust got this email question from William who ask “How did you deal with the day to day grind at BUDS Navy SEAL training?”

I have answered the question before “what is the hardest part of BUDS?”. I said that it was overall the daily grind of training and how it wears you down.

You wake up at 4:30 to get going and doing PT at 5:30 on the grinder. You run all day with training and get to bed late with only about 6 hours of sleep a night.

In the end the training really wears you down even when I went through at only 20 years old.

#1 TIP
Try to get as much sleep as you can. This is a no brainer but you need all the sleep you can get to repair your body.

TIP #2
Don’t Drink
Adding alcohol to the mix will only dehydrate your body. You actually need to be drinking more water to repair your body and mind. Save that for later in your life. During BUDS you need to be in top form and not dragging ass.

Navy SEAL BUD/S (Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL) training is conducted at the Naval Special Warfare Center in Coronado, California. The training program is designed to be one of the most challenging and rigorous military training courses in the world, and it is intended to test the limits of a candidate’s physical and mental abilities.
