‘Frankenstein’ Set For World Premiere At La Monnaie

Composer Mark Grey’s “Frankenstein” will make its world premiere at La Monnaie on March 8, 2019.

The new opera, which includes a libretto by Júlia Canosa, will be directed by Alex Ollé from La Fura dels Baus, who will explore how technology can be a major danger to society. The production will be conducted by Bassem Akiki with tenor Topi Lehtipuu taking on the role of the creature. Scott Hendricks will appear as Victor Frankenstein and in the role of Elizabeth, audiences will see Eleonore Marguerre.

The production of “Frankenstein” will feature additional performances on March 10, 12, 14, 15, 17, 19, and 20.

After the opera, the composer will head to Rome to put on his Frankenstein Symphony at the Auditorium Parco della Musica.
