Nikki Reed tells moms to follow their instincts when it comes to feeding their babies.

Some babies breastfeed for months, some don't at all. Some babies love avocados, others spit them out.

Nikki Reed, who shares a child with actor Ian Somerhalder, is here to assure moms that "whatever you're doing you are doing it right!"

The actress opened up about her own mothering techniques on social media and explained that she doesn't know when she'll stop breastfeeding her 20-month-old daughter, Bodhi Soleil.

"I often get asked how long I plan on breastfeeding. To be honest, I have no idea how long her and I will be on this journey together," Reed captioned an Instagram post. "I follow her lead, and she tells me exactly what she needs. At 20 months she is only just becoming interested in food."

She added that it took her a year of trying to feed Bodhi blended food until someone suggested that she just give her daughter solid foods instead.

"Who knew some kids just don’t ever go for blended baby food. I tried bananas, avocado, all the semi-soft good stuff and she rejected everything," Reed wrote. "Never in a million years did I think to skip that step when she only had two teeth."

What the "Twilight" actress is doing is called baby led weaning which entails letting your child feed themselves solid foods and skip right over the "mush" phase.

Reed suggested that if other moms had trouble giving their babies puréed foods, they try steaming vegetables and letting their child play with the different textures. The 30-year-old mom also took the time to remind other parents out there to continue doing what they feel is right.

"Every baby is on their own path doing things when and how they need to, and our job is to trust our gut, talk to other mamas and just go with the flow!" Reed finished off her post.
