Welcome Welcome to our spring season, bringing you the best shows that we could find, from all over the world. Our main stage will be filled with comedy, musicals, bands, dance and opera coming to Chester on their international tours. The season starts with a return visit for Mischief Theatre. Following the success of The Play That Goes Wrong, Ocean’s Eleven meets the Marx brothers in their dynamite new comedy direct from the West End The Comedy About a Bank Robbery. Musicals play a leading role throughout the new season, including Anita Dobson as the tyrannical Miss Hannigan in Annie; Ghost The Musical co-written by Eurythmics Dave Stewart; infamously bawdy comedy Avenue Q; and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. We’re delighted to welcome visionary director Emma Rice, who brings her critically acclaimed production of Wise Children direct from the West End. Stand-up comedy is also high on the agenda, with shows from Jason Manford, Julian Clary and Dara O’Briain plus national treasure Brian Blessed. Key partners:

A delightfully festive tale, and the perfect introduction to Russian classical ballet, this is the timeless story of Clara, who is whisked away on a fairy tale adventure to the Land of Flowers by her Nutcracker Prince.

The witches have a prophecy: Macbeth will be king. But royalty comes at a price. The cost of power is betrayal, murder and revenge. Returning from the Trojan War and caught in the midst of a storm, King Idomeneo promises the raging seas that he will sacrifice the first person he meets, in return for his safe passage. Cruelly, the first person he encounters is his only son, Idamante. Rivalry between the princesses Ilia and Elettra for the heart of Idamante coupled with a king’s ill-fated promise provide a rich, emotional drama and unforgettable music. Starring the late Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg it was the highest grossing film of 1990 and won an Oscar for screenwriter Bruce Joel Rubin who has adapted his screenplay for this musical. The movie and the musical feature The Righteous Brothers’ Unchained Melody alongside many more terrific songs cowritten by Eurythmics’ Dave Stewart.

The Kitchen at Storyhouse has been a huge success for daytime and pre-theatre dining and is open for evening dining seven days a week – fresh, colourful, modern cuisine, inspired by the flavours of the Levant.

Storyhouse’s bars – The Kitchen on the ground floor and the Garret Bar in the copper box are open until 11pm every night.

With the crossroads of the Eastern Mediterranean as our culinary starting point, we have collected recipes and ingredients from Greece to Turkey, Libya to Lebanon and returned to the kitchen to cook up wonderment! Food is served every day from 8am to 9.30pm (except Sundays 9.30am - 9pm).

You can grab take-away fresh food to enjoy in the café, library, cinema and theatre, and drinks bought in Storyhouse can be safely taken into both the theatre and cinema to enjoy during an event.
