Authors on the Air presents two master writer cowboys IN CONVERSATION.  Please join REAVIS WORTHAM when he interviews on of America's master storytellers - JAMES LEE BURKE.       

JLB finished his first novel, Half of Paradise, when he was 23, but could not find a publisher.Burke published two more novels, then submitted the manuscript titled The Lost Get-Back Boogie. Burke stayed out of hardback print for thirteen years. During this period he met his current agent, Philip Spitzer, who was  running a one-man agency during the day. When The Lost Get-Back Boogie was finally published by Louisiana State University Press, it was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. Burke has been a Breadloaf Fellow and Guggenheim Fellow, and has been awarded two Edgar Awards , as well as the Grand Master Master Award, by the Mystery Writers of America. 

 Reavis Z. Wortham is the author of the critically acclaimed Red River historical mystery series. Kirkus Reviews listed his first novel, The Rock Hole, as one of their Top 12 Mysteries of 2011. True West Magazine included Dark Places as one of 2015’s Top 12 Modern Westerns. The Providence Journal writes, “This year’s Unraveled is a hidden gem of a book that reads like Craig Johnson’s Longmire on steroids.” Wortham’s new high octane contemporary thriller series from Kensington Publishing featuring Texas Ranger Sonny Hawke kicked off in 2017 with the publication of Hawke’s Prey. The second Sonny Hawke thriller, Hawke’s War, was published in May 2018. The latest Red River Mystery, Gold Dust, was published Sept. 4, 2018.
