Teachers around Australia will soon start receiving real-time feedback from their students through the medium of emojis.

Vivi, a classroom audio-visual system used by about a quarter of private schools, has launched a new "student feedback tool" enabling children to instantly report such feelings as inspired, confused, bored and overwhelmed.

The innovation means educators will able to launch online polls to see how their students are faring in class, rather than relying on a show of hands or nervous nodding.

Vivi founder Lior Rauchberger hopes the tool will support teachers to deliver personalised tuition for students.

"Vivi provides a really simple tool to be able to get a quick poll and some instant, real-time feedback," he said.

"Which of my students are a little bit bored? Which of them are not being challenged by what I'm teaching?"

Rauchberger says the product is based on the latest research into educational best practice.

"This is a really exciting tool using emojis and quick, instant feedback that is really going to help teachers deliver," he said.

Vivi is used by schools including Oakhill College and Shore School in NSW, Kew High and Brighton Grammar in Victoria, Mount Carmel College in South Australia, and the Silkwood and Brigidine College in Queensland.
