Dear <<First Name>>,

Welcome to race week!

The weather is looking great, the event team are working hard and we're all looking forward to welcoming you to Katoomba for Ultra-Trail Australia 2019.

I'm sure you're ready and eager to take on UTA22. It's such a great event on an amazing course, with 'only' 1685 stairs to climb (and descend) before you cross the finish line on Friday.

This will be the final newsletter before you race, so please take the time to read the information below. Then keep a close watch on our Facebook page and event app for any announcements over the coming days.

Happy trails!

Tom Landon-Smith
Race Director - Ultra-Trail Australia
RACE WEEK
THE COURSE
The UTA22 course tracks can be rough and uneven. Please take care, especially around cliff edges. The tracks sometimes go along unguarded cliff edges and down steep staircases, it is your responsibility to proceed with caution.

It is also the responsibility of each runner to know the course and to follow the map so they have a general idea of where they are at all times. Please see the link below for course maps, descriptions, GPX files of the course, and information about the mapping phone app.
UT22 CHECK-IN
Race Check-In for the 22km event will be at KCC Auditorium at the following times:
  • Thursday 16 May: 12pm -7pm
  • Friday 17 May: 7am - 8.50am
All runners must attend the race briefing held at Scenic World on Friday 17 May at 7.45am or 8.55am.

GETTING TO THE START LINE
All runners must catch the special event buses from Scenic World to the startline at Queen Victoria Hospital.

Runners, spectators and supporters are not permitted to drive to the start line. All runners and any spectators and supporters wishing to watch the race start must assemble at Scenic World on Friday morning and then take the bus from Scenic World to the start line. The buses are free for runners only. Spectators and supporters must pre-purchase a UTA22 Spectator Bus Ticket to be able to watch the start. This ticket includes the return trip.

Shuttle departure times are based on your assigned start group:
Shuttle 1 - 8:00am (for runners in Start Groups 1, 2, 3 and a percentage of start group 4 runners)
Shuttle 2  - 9:10am (for runners in Start Groups 5 and 6 and a percentage of start group 4 runners)

RACE DAY PHOTOS
There's nothing like nailing that mid-race photo... unless you don't get to see it. So please make sure that your bib number is visible at all times. To avoid your bib scrunching, pin it higher on the chest area where your t-shirt is less likely to move or scrunch up. We also recommend double-checking your race number is visible when you see the photographers on course. Here are some examples of what not to do...
