Activist Judges Issue Injunctions Against Trump Administration Policy On Religious Liberty & Ban On Taxpayer Funding of Abortion

Duluth, GA – Faith & Freedom Coalition Executive Director Tim Head issued the following statement in response to an order from U.S. District Judge Wendy Beetlestone and another from U.S. District Judge Haywood Gilliam, Jr. halting the Trump administration’s rule to provide conscience protections to Americans who have a religious or moral objection to paying for health insurance that covers contraceptive and abortifacient services that was scheduled to go into effect on Monday.

“The First Amendment rights of people of faith who object to taking innocent human life have once again been trampled on by activist judges who are attempting to legislate from the bench. Democrat Attorney’s General and their allies in the federal judiciary are attempting to overturn the rule issued by President Trump in October of 2017 to end regulations forcing faith-based charities to subsidize medical services to which they object as a matter of their faith, and ensuring that public funds are not used to provide abortions. The Obama administration chose to trample on the rights of religious groups and employers such as Little Sisters of the Poor who object to taking innocent human life. The Trump administration rightly and legally overturned this policy that violates freedom of speech and religion. Despite these rulings, people of faith around the country, including the over 1.8 million members and supporters of the Faith & Freedom Coalition, will continue to support the administration’s policy and continue the fight to overturn this liberal judicial overreach.”
