A dangerous secret, a deadly blackmailer, a bodyguard that's as dangerous to the heart as he is lethal, and a romance that's packed full of feels and sizzle all wrap seamlessly together in this brand new series from Shayla Black. If you've read her Wicked Lovers series, you'll definitely recognize quite a few characters in this one, and I'm thrilled to have this series carry them over. I've been curious about Cutter's story ever since Holding on Tighter, and it didn't disappoint.
When his best friend is in trouble, Cutter is about to give up his chance at true love by helping her. But before he settles into his new role, he takes on one more assignment; famous actress Shealyn. Shealyn stands to lose the career she's put everything into at the hands of a blackmailer that knows a secret she'd do everything to keep out of the public eye. The plan is simple; hire a bodyguard to protect her, give the blackmailer the money they demand, and move on with her life. Unfortunately nothing ever goes as planned, and what should have been a simple money drop, turns into a deadly and dangerous game with her life on the line.
Cutter has given his word to his best friend and he's settled into what's to be his life. The last thing he expects when he's given up any thoughts of true love is the instantaneous connection with his gorgeous new client.
The chemistry between Cutter and Shealyn was instant and scorching. Both of them fight the inevitable, but they can only ignore what's burning between them for so long before letting the flames consume them.
Cutter was a delicious mix of protective and demanding. He has a hidden soft side to him beneath all the hard edges. I adored his devotion to his best friend, and my heart pitter pattered with his treatment of Shealyn. They may be hiding secrets from each other, but their connection was still full of depth and emotion that I couldn't get enough of.
Shealyn was a great heroine. She was an endearing combination of strength and vulnerability and I loved the way that Cutter balanced it all.
There's characters that carry over from Shayla's Wicked series along with plenty of new faces that are introduced. Though non are as enigmatic and One-Mile, whose story I'm practically salivating for.
Devoted To Pleasure was an action packed and sizzling read that brought the swoons and the sizzle I've come to expect from Shayla Black. It was deliciously satisfying with twists and turns that kept me at the edge of my seat and eagerly turning the pages. I can't wait for more in this series and already crossing my fingers that Black will put me out of my misery and have it be One-Mile's.

Shealyn West is being blackmailed with a video that was taken without her knowledge. For reasons of her own, she doesn't want to investigate who is doing this to her. She just wants to pay them off in hopes that they will leave her alone once paid.
Cutter Bryant is hired to be a bodyguard for actress Shelly West. When he arrives, he is surprised the actress only hired him to protect her while dropping off blackmail money. Cutter tries to convince Shealyn that she needs to let him investigate or the blackmailers will keep coming back, if it truly is money they are after.
Cutter knows he shouldn't get close to Shealyn but he can't help the attraction he feels for her. He has obligations at home and can't offer her anything long term. Shealyn has a fake relationship with her co-star of her hit tv series. She knows she shouldn't get close to Cutter in fear of the paparazzi finding out and smearing her name.
Cutter and Shealyn's story was ok. I wish I can say that I loved it but it was just ok. Cutter's obligation back home and Shealyn's fake relationship interfered too much into their own story and I think it kept me from connecting with them.

I was so excited to start reading Devoted Pleasure, so far I have loved all the books I read by Shayla Black.This is not an exception.I was hooked from the first pages.I find the story interesting and captivating.
Shayla Black delivers a great story full of suspense,mystery,drama and a passionate romance.The romance between Cutter and Shealyn was fantastic.Both characters were well developed and the chemistry between them was something else. I loved that the France developed slowly with angst and passion.Both have to face their problems to manage to be together.
Overall, it was a great story.I'm looking forward for the next book in the series!

Explosive chemistry just can't be denied between Black's newest couple. Sexy and sweet all wrapped up in one great love story. I was left me wanting more.
Once again, Shayla Black tantalizes while engulfing the reader in one doozy of a love story.

DEVOTED TO PLEASURE (Devoted Lovers Book #1) by Shayla Black is a sexy contemporary romance with the added subplot of the hero being the bodyguard for the heroine. This is a page-turning start of a new series with as many twists and turns in the romance as in the suspense.
Shealyn West is the sexy, beautiful and down to earth co-star of a steamy nighttime TV drama. Her fame came quickly and it is not everything she wished for. To help her friend and co-star, Shealyn fakes a relationship with him. In a moment of emotional weakness, she makes a mistake which could be career ending and is now being used to blackmail her. She hires a bodyguard to protect her for the money drop and finds a real attraction that is too powerful to avoid.
Cutter Bryant is ex-military and believes in duty above all else. He loves his high-octane job in private security, but he is a small town boy at heart. Cutter’s childhood friend is in trouble and Cutter wants to solve her problems for her out of obligation, but it means sacrificing his own chance for love. When he is sent to Hollywood to work for Shealyn, he cannot believe the chemistry between them. He has never crossed the line between work and personal before, but there is something between them that is worth trying to find a way to be together.
As Shealyn and Cutter work together to discover who is blackmailing Shealyn, their attraction becomes as explosive as the secrets they need to expose. Will Cutter be able to protect Shealyn from the mounting danger? Can Shealyn believe in and trust a real HEA is possible?
I feel this is a very solid start to this new series. Cutter and Shealyn complimented each other very well. I found the background information on both the H/h’s troubled childhoods which impacted how they behaved in the present compelling. I did have a problem with how often Cutter’s situation back home came up. I found the friend in trouble an immature whiner, not sympathetic and Cutter too self-sacrificing even though it worked out in the end. The blackmail and physical danger had enough twists to keep me anxiously turning the pages and the sex was explicit and smoking hot. I will be looking forward to more books in this series!

In Devoted to Pleasures a sexy starlet hires a hunky bodyguard to help her with a blackmailer, when the two meet sparks fly! Even with the undeniable chemistry these two can’t act upon their desires due to unselfish commitments they’ve made to others not to mention Cutter has never mixed business with pleasure. Shealyn and Cutter’s road to happiness is filled with searing hot passion, secrets, intrigue and a roller coaster ride of emotions, a definite must read for lovers of Romantic Suspense. Ms. Black kept me guessing as to who the blackmailer was. I enjoyed the suspense of the book and I liked both Cutter and Shealyn, I just never felt a true connection to their actual romance because of the commitments they each had to other people, don’t get me wrong the sex was HOT but I needed more of them without the other people.
I’m excited for the rest of the Devoted Lovers series!

I was completely invested in this book from the first page and became more engrossed by the minute.
A fast paced romantic suspense that has it all sexy bodyguard, stunning starlet, danger, lies, adventure and did I mention sexy bodyguard.
My poor Kindle was virtually smoking with the action coming from the story and the rate that I turned the pages.
Shayla Black delivered in every way with this book. Romance, suspense, tension, devoted to pleasure delivered it all.

Shealyn is being black mailed with a video that she didn't know was made. Shealyn just wants to pay the blackmailer and be done with it. When she hires Cutter to be protection as she delivers the money he quickly tells her that is not the right move to make.
There was a instant attraction between the two that made Cutter want to help protect her fully. They both had outstanding issue that should keep them apart but in the end it drew them in.

A plot brimming with passion, explosive sexual chemistry, and angst, Devoted to Pleasure was an intense read. Shayla Black's new series, a spin-off of her Wicked Lovers, is certainly off to a good start. Shealyn and Cutter's fiery and suspense-filled romance captivated me from its slow-building beginnings and through each nail-biting twist.
Cutter Bryant, a former military officer, turned badass bodyguard, was a sexy and overly protective Alpha hero. A man who would do anything and sacrifice all for those he loved, he was exactly the type of man sassy starlet Shealyn West needed when her life fell apart. When danger darkened her doorstep, Cutter was quick to keep her safe at the expense of risking his own life and heart. But falling hard and fast for his beautiful client further complicated his already difficult circumstances. Their relationship was riddled with heartache and challenges as this couple traveled an emotionally bumpy road towards finding a happily ever after ~ twisting my emotions along the way.
A story laced with secrets, drama and sizzling passion, Devoted to Pleasure was an enjoyable insta-romance. I savored every moment of Cutter and Shealyn's journey as Black's writing style has a way of luring me in, centering my thoughts around her characters lives and experiences. Steamy romance mixed with mysterious danger…
This author knows how to weave a twisty story! The romance between Shealyn and Cutter heats up even as the secrets between them simmer in the background. Shealyn is in danger and Cutter is going to do everything he can to protect her, even if she wasn’t telling the whole truth…
This read was so, so good for many, many different reasons! The chemistry between Shealyn and Cutter was undeniable as the sparks flew hot and furious. Told from each other’s point of view, the secrets they kept from each other fed the anxiousness as I waited for all the shoes to drop. And while I was waiting for that, the danger/intrigue churned away, with the drama playing out inch by inch, torturing me as it slowly played out.

As I reread this I'm mad at Cutter. He could have just told her his problems from the beginning once they fell in love for eachother.

Those who love Wicked Lovers will definitely love this one. Especially since we see some of the characters from those books. Yes this one doesn't include any bdsm but boy was it HOT!!

Shealyn is being blackmailed and afraid of what people will think of her. She has been guarding her heart ever since her mother left them as kids. The instant these two meet is like a firework have sparked.
This story was filled with sexual tension, suspense, steamy scenes and it was emotional. This is definitely a must read. I can't wait for the next one and hoping it's Cutter brother Cage. I can see him bringing some hardcore scenes.

Sweet new series from Ms. Black dives into the world of romantic suspense. Shealyn West is an actress with not only a stalker of sorts but a blackmailer. She is the perfect patsy for a blackmailer because she refuses to confront them for fear of damaging her good girl next door image. As most readers know, a blackmailer is never satisfied with one payment. Luckily for Shealyn, she is recommended to hire a new bodyguard and he has different ideas about how to protect her. Specifically, Cutter Bryant does not condone paying off blackmailers. Against Shealyn's wishes, he decides to do something about it.
Full disclosure, I just read a book where the set up was similar except the famous actress was actually an actor. The set up in that book was more complex and well developed so this book unfortunately is getting compared to it, perhaps unfairly. I digress. The characters in this story are good. Sheayln is really a nice person. Cutter is an alpha male as Ms. Black normally gravitates towards. I liked book characters. There was a bit of miscommunication between the two characters which is not favourite way to have conflict, but it is okay. It's pretty accurate of how many romance readers expect men and women to interact. The chemistry between the two does generate a bit of heat and is sweet.
The plot of the story does take a backseat to the romance angle. I do prefer to have a stronger plot to generate tighter bonds between the two characters. Overall, the story is easy to follow and a smooth read. Is it memorable? Only because I like the author. This contemporary romance is recommended to romantic suspense lovers who love their alpha males.

Shayla Black starts off this series with a one-two punch right in the solar-plexus, we are not only gifted with the hot and steamy insta-love story of Shealyn and Cutter but it is also filled with a ton of mystery and suspense.
Shealyn and Cutter weren't supposed to fall for one another, he was there to do a job then return his home in Louisiana and follow through with his commitments. He needed to find out who was blackmailing Shealyn and stop him/her before they leaked an extremely damaging video to the public and ruin Shealyn's image, the only problem with that was Shealyn just wanted to pay the person and be done with it hoping that they would never blackmail her again.
The attraction was instant although they both tried to fight it, but with chemistry as strong as theirs fighting it was a futile attempt to prolong the inevitable. What would you do for love? Would you leave your career behind and move to be with the person you loved? Would you break promises to some you cared for? These questions and many more are addressed in this first book of the Devoted Lovers Series.
Devoted to Pleasure was a great start to the series, there is a novella Devoted to Wicked that was released last year that is a cross over between the Wicked Lovers Series and the Devoted Lovers Series which is based on Cutter's brother Cage. I really enjoyed that read as well. While that book came out before this one did the events actually take place after so you can read the books in whichever order you prefer.
I highly recommend this book to anyone that is a fan if Shalya Black's and if you haven't read any of her books yet, what are you waiting for?!?! I'm convinced Shayla Black is sprinkling crack in her books. I can't get enough!
This was yet another fantastic read that steamy with an edge of thrill thanks to the blackmail-mystery sublpot. Even though Cutter and Shealyn's relationship (like most of Black's romances) tend to be on the insta-lovey side, it was written so well that I barely cared. I love them together and that's that.

I was so excited to get my hands on Devoted to Pleasure which is the first book in the new Devoted Lovers series by one of my favorite authors, Shayla Black. I've not ever been disappointed by any of her books, so I knew before turning the first page that it was gonna be good, but it was even better.
The author did a number on me by letting me in on a secret from the very beginning of the story. And once it was in my head, it stayed there, niggling in the background. I worried. I waited. Knowing that it wouldn't stay a secret forever and anxious about when and how it would come to light later on. Well done...
Coming from a military background and being raised by a single mother, Cutter fell right into what I would consider White Knight Syndrome. Perfect for a career in the security field, right? Using his protective instincts for good and rescuing damsels in distress should be rewarding, right? But how much is too much? When will his sacrifices be enough? Will he have to sacrifice his chance at love too?
Shealyn has trust issues, but Cutter came highly recommended and she needs someone to help her deal with a blackmailer that is threatening her career. She's worked very hard to reach her current level of success and it could be over in a minute if the threat is carried out. She knows she made a mistake, but she can't take it back and now she just wants to keep her secret hidden. When her new security detail shows up for duty she's not expecting the zing of attraction that she feels. But she's determined to keep it to herself, along with her secret.
Cutter has never been tempted to cross the line between business and personal with a client, but he's finding that keeping his eyes on Shealyn is both a blessing and curse. She's beautiful but also deadly to his self-control. The last thing he needs when trying to protect her is to be distracted by her. Will he be able to resist her once he realizes she feels the same way? I'll give you one guess, that's all you'll need.
While all the sexual tension is building the suspense does too. Both Cutter & Shealyn are hiding things from each other, but not from me. Right, that's exactly what I'm talking about. I was going crazy knowing their secrets and wanting them to let the cat out of the bag. I tried to convince them to fess up, but they ignored me. But I didn't know all the secrets, the author kept the identity of the blackmailer from all of us. It was fun to guess and process the clues as I waited to learn if I was right.
Some characters I wanted to throw my Kindle at and others I wanted to spend more time with. So much so that I'm extra excited about this being only the first book in the series which means there's a good chance that will happen. In the meantime, I'm having #HotCop fantasies. The line forms here...

I have been a big fan of Shayla Black's sexy stories and was so excited to jump into an all new spinoff series by her. I thought Cutter and Shealyn's story was great. It was sweet and sexy with a dose of suspense that kept me glued to my seat. I could not get enough!
When movie star Shealyn is being blackmailed she is in need of protection and safety - enter Cutter, a sexy, aloha bodyguard with a heart of gold. I thought this story was sweet and Shealyn provided the sass to Cutter's alpha protectiveness. I loved their banter and attraction and their chemistry together. The mystery element prevalent throughout was an added bonus to a sweet and heartfelt romance. Cutter and Shealyn were just perfect together!
I look forward to reading additional stories in this series in the future. I would like to thank Netgalley and Berkley Publishing for an advanced copy of this book for an honest review. Bravo! 4 stars! ~Ratula

And of course I got snippets of some of my favorite Wicked Lovers characters including Logan and Heath. Swoon. But Cutter certainly ratcheted up the swoon factor where Shealyn was concerned!

I've read my fair share of Shayla Black books and I'm VERY sad to say that this one just didn't do it for me. I tried. I REALLY tired to fall for these characters, for the story, but there was just "something" that kept me distant. And I still can't pin point it. (sigh)
Cutter is former military, now working security. He's a small town "hero" and has a problem with always wanting to help those in need. Probably why the security thing works for him. But it's messing with his personal life. Why? Because he's promised his life to local girl, just so that she can save face with her family (and THIS is probably what's kept me at arms length). But before he can marry the local girl, he has a job to do in LA.
Shealyn is the job in LA. She's a big time actress, who's living the dream. Right? Well, sort of. Although she's this huge actress, she's also "fake dating" her co-star and is currently being blackmailed. So she's hired Cutter to help her with the blackmail issue. He may be helping her out with the co-worker issue too.
Like I stated earlier, this just didn't mesh for me. The fact that Cutter is the wholesome local town hero who saves the day, sacrificing his own needs for others, really through me. The chemistry between the two main characters is good. But it seemed to run hot and cold due to Cutter predicament. All in all, it's still a good read because the author is good at what she does. I’ve heard of Shayla Black for ages but somehow I never read any of her books. When Devoted to Pleasure (Devoted Lovers #1) was offered for review I figured it was time and I’m glad I took it.
Cutter is such a good guy. Sexy as all get out, alpha to the max and yet downright likable. Shealyn is so far from what you’d expect of a television star. She’s sweet and likable but fame has added to her natural guardedness. She’s reluctant to share too much even with the man she’s hired to help her with a blackmailer.
Cutter is the consummate professional and knows better than to become entangled with a client but Shealyn is just too perfect. Everything about her draws him in, except that he knows she’s not telling him the whole story. She so far from what he expected. Their shared southern roots just make her that much more the woman of his dreams.
I loved Cutter and Shealyn and became invested in their story. I always like some suspense in my romance and this book was perfect for that. The dangerous situation the two find themselves in has the perfect amount of “running for their lives” and “falling for each other”. While I had my suspicions of “who dun it” I was still guessing to the end.
This was my first Black book but will not be my last!

Shayla Black starts off this series with a one-two punch right in the solar-plexus, we are not only gifted with the hot and steamy insta-love story of Shealyn and Cutter but it is also filled with a ton of mystery and suspense.
The attraction was instant although they both tried to fight it, but with chemistry as strong as theirs fighting it was a futile attempt to prolong the inevitable. What would you do for love? Would you leave your career behind and move to be with the person you loved? Would you break promises to some you cared for? These questions and many more are addressed in this first book of the Devoted Lovers Series.

This was my first Shayla Black, and unfortunately it was a miss for me. The hero proved himself to be a huge ass in the first chapter in a way I was sure I wouldn't be able to get over. I thought it was unfair to abandon the book after just his POV, so I read the next chapter from the heroine's POV, and it felt so formulaic to me. I'm just going to say - I think there are going to be a lot of people who love this book and find the heroes behavior endearing and possibly admirable. It just didn't work for me.

I have to start off with the disclaimer that romantic suspense isn't really my jam. If it were, this would probably have been a 4 or 4.5 star read for me; however, I mostly read romantic comedies and this book was a little too much dramaaaa and not enough sass for me. Again, part of that is because this is a genre outside of my norm, so if romantic suspense is your jam, this book will probably be right up your alley.
I love that Cutter and Shealyn are both from small southern towns. They both have an air of southern charm about them that I just fell immediately in love with. I was also really intrigued by the show that Shealyn was starring on, and kept picturing her character as Scarlett O'Connor from Nashville. Shealyn is this great mix between strong and vulnerable - which, actually, so it Cutter, and Shayla Black does a wonderful job of creating fully-fleshed out and very real characters with depths and shallows and foibles that make you forget you're reading a book about fictional people in a fictional world and actually care about these very real people. Also, the sex scenes are super hot.
What I didn't love so much was the way they have their secrets they're keeping from each other exposed and are really upset but manage to move past it with a promise of honesty, and yet they both continue to keep secrets. Um, what? And then you don't expect this to come back and bite you in the butt later? Dumb move, friends. Really dumb move. I just don't have much patience for characters who don't learn from their mistakes. But THEN, both Cutter and Shealyn have crap in their pasts their dealing with (Cutter's drunk and deadbeat dad, and Shealyn's drunk and absent mother) and they both manage to deal with their pasts and go through an enormous amount of personal growth throughout the book (even though it takes them longer than I think it should have...) So they can learn! And I do appreciate a romance novel where the MC's manage to grow as individuals as well as together as a couple, so HOORAY!
This is the first book in the Devoted Lovers series, and can be read as a stand alone. There's a note in the series description that it picks up where Wicked Lovers, another series by Shayla Black, ended, which makes sense because there are a LOT of references to other couples in this book, and now I realize they're from this earlier, linked series. I am DYING for One-Mile and Brea's story, which I'm really hoping the next book in the series, Devoted to Love is about - the blurb doesn't have names so IT MIGHT BE!

I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.
This is a great start to a new series. It has the makings of a great series with all of the hints at secondary characters.
Cutter is a great guy - he is too good to be true, in all honesty. I wish that he had some flaws throughout, since he was so "perfect", it was hard to believe his character or to even really relate. He is in security and when he's called to protect a Hollywood star, he takes his job very seriously...until he meets her. Not only is he insanely attracted to her, he is also in a personal pickle with what he left behind.
Shealyn is an actress who is set on protecting her private life. She is now in need of protection, but she's not willing to divulge what is really going on until it's almost too late. She meets Cutter and knows that her life is complicated already, but just this once, she wants something real - for herself.
In true romance fashion, the lack of communication is prevalent and rears its ugly head. I think that Black has an amazing talent for writing characters that suck you in and who you want to root for.
This is a great story with a lot of intrigue and a ton of chemistry between the main characters. I really enjoyed this story and can't wait for more.

Great addition to the series.

Well this was an interesting read. Here I thought i’d Get a story about two best friends who need each other for different reasons and instead I get another plot line entirely different. Wow. That’s all I can say.
That and bravo. Because for an author to make me think one thing would happen and none of it does, that’s an amazing feat. There’s a reason why I don’t watch movies with others since I have a tendency of telling the plot line before I even get there and ruin the entire story.
I really did enjoy this story - there was enough suspense to keep me at the edge of my seat and enough ‘awwwww’ and ‘holy hotness’ moments that kept me coming back for more when I knew I should have been in bed long ago.
I wish I could say that this was one of Shayla Black’s best novel yet, but I have too many of hers that love and Devoted To Pleasure is going to have to pick a chair and wait in line because it’s also coming right there with the best of this author’s so far.
