USJ's Cole White voted The Jackson Sun's boys athlete of the week for April 2-7
With 36.36 percent of the vote, University School of Jackson's Cole White has been voted as The Jackson Sun's boys athlete of the week for April 2-7.
South Gibson's Levi Schlesinger finsihed second in the voting with 22.74 percent of the vote. Schlesinger collected 867 votes.
White tallied 1,386 votes over the four-day voting period. White scored three goals and provided two assists for the Bruins overs two games. USJ defeated Lexington 7-2 and defeated FRA 5-0.
Here were the other candidates:
- Burton Colvett, Huntingdon: Colvett pitched a two-hit shutout over five innings and striking out 13 batters in a 11-0 win over Adamsville on April 4.
- Alex Deal, Westview: Deal pitched a complete game against Gibson County, allowing two earned runs, one walk while striking out four in a 6-4 win on Friday.
- Peyton Freeman, Crockett County: Freeman pitched 6 1/3 no hit innings while striking out 15 batters in a win over Milan.
- Trace Haggard, JCS: Haggard had two shutouts in the Gulf Coast/Southern Coast Cup for the Eagles.
- Hunter Hudson, Peabody: Hudson pitched a shutout against Madison, allowing three hits while striking out five. He was also 5-for-5 at the plate with three RBI on Wednesday.
- J.T. Lea, Haywood: Lea pitched a complete game allowing one earned run and striking out 11 in a 6-1 win over Ripley.
- Levi Schlesinger, South Gibson: Schlesinger hit a walkoff grand slam to give the Hornets a 7-3 win over McKenzie on April 6.
