Art at Roma
Exhibit #2:
Deadline Coming Soon

The next Art at Roma exhibit will be installed on Tuesday, July 3, 2018.  Everyone who has artwork hanging at Club Roma will have to pick up their work in the morning so that the next set of artwork (for Exhibit #2) can be hung soon after lunch on that same day.  Please arrange to pick up and/or drop off your work on this day.

We need your submissions soon!  In order to select the pieces for the next exhibit, please send in your images to events@stcatharinesart.com by Friday, June 15, 2018.  As before, please submit up to 3 images, which are between 3' and 5' in any direction, or both.  If you have visited Club Roma to see the current exhibit, you can see that the larger the painting/photograph, the better.  Also remember that for this exhibit we are asking that you submit paintings/ photographs that complement weddings such as florals, landscapes, summertime, etc.  As well, any Italian-themed paintings are especially liked by Club Roma.   [We are also keeping some of the first entries on file as they may work for the new theme.]

Please include your name, the title, dimensions, medium, and price in the title of each image.

The artwork in this exhibit must stay up until September 30, 2018.

If your work is selected, you will receive a registration application.  As before, there will be a payment of $10 per painting, to be made and submitted along with the signed registration when you arrive with your artwork at Club Roma.

Special Note:  Because this exhibit will begin in the new SCAA year, you must renew your membership in order to be eligible to submit and be accepted for it.  You can renew your membership at the June Members Meeting.

Year End Party

Annual General Meeting

In addition to providing the latest announcements to members, the Board will present a brief summary of business for the 2017-18 year.  Please be sure to take a plate of goodies and a drink of choice to your seats by 7:15 pm.

Elections/Volunteer Sign-up

This is your chance to step forward and take on one of the many volunteer opportunities that keep the SCAA one of the most vibrant art organizations in Ontario.  Most of these positions are very small and/or infrequent, such as helping with the name tags at the Members Meetings (monthly) or with the installation of Club Roma exhibits (every 3 months).  If you missed the May Members Meeting, you can still get a sneak peek of the sign-up lists on the Members Only pages under Sign-up Lists for Board and Volunteer Positions.  If you have any questions, contact Brenda at biatta57@hotmail.com.

Member Show and Tell

In place of an Art Challenge, we are encouraging everyone to bring one piece of artwork to share with each other to round out the evening party.  To ensure that everyone has a chance to see each other's work and hear a bit about it, please keep your "tell" to under 2 minutes.  As with the Art Challenges at previous meetings, these pieces will be photographed and placed in a gallery on the website.

Esa's Painting Demonstration at the May Members Meeting

A big thank you to Esa Nieminen who demonstrated how to bring the special luminosity of a metal surface to life in an acrylic painting.  Esa packed the house when he demonstrated how to bring the special luminosity of a metal surface to life in an acrylic painting.

While the paint dried, he demonstrated the effectiveness of his own specially-designed brush, The Leaf Stippler, in painting leaves, snow cover, and frost on trees in paintings.  He developed this special brush with synthetic “bristles” for its spring and durability.  Esa demonstrated how to create beautiful foliage, snow cover, and frost with this special Esa’s Leaf Stippler.  He also demonstrated how quickly clusters of evergreens can be painted with the large fuzzy-edged fan brush.   Go to the  Gallery for the
May 2018 Monthly Members Meeting on the SCAA website to see the photos of this compelling demonstration.
