Main purpose of job:

To ensure digital diplomacy for the HMG Bangladesh network. Support the Head of Section to drive an engaging, high-quality digital communications strategy across our channels that support the UK’s objectives in Bangladesh. Assist in planning and evaluating digital campaigns.

Roles and responsibilities:  

Channels: Under the guidance of line manager support UK in Bangladesh’s digital footprint, ensuring that our channels have bright, innovative and targeted content that supports our network campaigns, priorities and services.   Each channel’s strength and profile used to target specific audiences. Increase follower numbers and engagement with target audiences, including through working with partners.

Content:   Develop and contribute to the delivery of an insight-driven digital content strategy, as instructed by line manager. Driving-up the quality and volume of digital content by using the latest technology and trends, working with colleagues across the network to produce ever-more creative and engaging output. Create a publishing schedule and work with partners to deliver the most engaging content. Design (i.e Facebook Timeline cover, profile pics, thumbnails, ads, landing pages, Twitter profile, blogs etc) for digital channels.

Audiences and evaluation: Under the guidance of line manager constantly improve the effectiveness of our communications by better targeting our products to Bangladeshi audiences and incorporating lessons learned from continuous evaluation. Develop and expand community and/or influencer outreach effort.   Provide reports on the latest digital developments, which require monitoring online space and understanding the audience and trends.

External: Work with external stakeholders to learn best practice (social media organisations, news portals, major influencers) & upload content from visits and internal & external events.

Language requirements:

Language: English & Bengali

Level of language required: Proficient

Working patterns:

Limited flexibility on the working pattern as there will be lots of travel across Bangladesh.

The job holder will be required to work irregular hours, including short-notice travel across Bangladesh, occasional evenings and weekends to manage events and organise campaigns. 

No overtime is offered, but TOIL (Time Off In Lieu) can be negotiated.

0800-1600 (Sun-Wed)

0800-1400 (Thurs)

(regular out of hours and travel required)




  • Education: Degree level
  • Years of experience: At least 3 years in a media/digital environment.
  • Digital production skills.

Working with British government departments; marketing and brand management; procurement procedures.
