Project Summary

Background

PBAUM Across Borneo was founded and established in January 2019 under the encouragement of Muhammad Amirul Asharf, our senior at University of Malaya. This project was introduced  by the intrinsic motivation of simply wanting to aid and lend a helping hand to those who are in need of it, to give back something to the community and to make the world a better place for us, the people and for future generations.

Past year event at Ranau, Sabah

Objective

Arabic Language Society, a registered student body under HEPA UM  who truly wishes to help others and serve the community. Throughout the years, we've held activities such as "Santun Gelandangan to aid the homeless. Truth be told, homeless aren't useless. They have jobs of their own. It's just that they weren't able to afford the accommodations to live in. Therefore, we wish to lend a helping hand to help those people in any way we can.
However, we cannot do it alone. We have plans. Big ambitious plans that seem impossible. But we believe that if we can dream it, we can achieve it. Our dream is to help those who are in need and serve the community.

PBAUM Across Borneo

State level programme under Arabic Language Society of University of Malaya, It seeks to develop and share among the participants to develop social enterprise skills as well to share their knowledge about the Arabic Language to the community at Tawau,Sabah

On the surface, our events may not seem much but in our perception, they are the stepping stones that will lead us to a thousand journey. We start small, set short-term goals and repeat until we achieve our long-term goal as these short-term goals are the pieces we need in order to help us reach our long-term goal. For our long-term goal, we wish to do more and get involved in bigger social work projects so that we can not only spread hope but also create hope for those who have fallen into despair.

Many of us here understand how it feels to fall into despair, how it feels to lose hope, to fall into depression and to have thoughts of wanting to end your own life. It's scary. According to the book, A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness, a wish to end one's pain is the most human wish of all. However, when you lose hope and fall into despair, you will want to end your own life instead. Therefore, we wish to reignite a spark of hope in the hearts of those who lost it. But we can't do it alone, that is why we need the help of sponsors to aid us with fundings as we lack the purchasing power to obtain the resources to accomplish our larger social work projects. We sincerely need this funding to help others.

If this funding were to fail, we would fail to save a life. In life, there is always this one moment or one chance opportunity to do the right thing and to make a difference. For example, through our food distribution charity event we can inspire those who are at the end of their ropes, telling them that hope exists as long as they are still alive. So, without crowdfunding, we won't have enough resource to organize more events and spread more hope. And without crowdfunding, we would fail to save a life. We promise that the funding is strictly for those who need them and none for ourselves. Being able to help the community is already a reward for us.

Needed Expenses

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

Our fundraising goal is RM15,500. This would cover the cost of flight ticket to Tawau, Sabah  first and foremost; this is one of our biggest expenses, and to have this subsidized would be a great weight lifted off our team. Then we would look to sponsor some more team members that are not in a financial position to afford the rest of the costs.

With these donations, our team would be able to focus on being the best we can be and representing Malaysia at the caliber that it deserves. However!! Even if we don't reach our RM15,500 goal it's ok! Anything helps!! Whether you want to fund the whole RM15,500 or just donate RM10, every penny is counted and appreciated beyond anything words can explain.
