Senta Evans thought it was going to be a normal Monday morning but instead, when she went to let her dogs out, she got the surprise of a lifetime.

An eight foot, 300-pound alligator was in her pool at her home in Palm Beach Gardens.

Evans snapped some pictures and called FWC.

FWC sent a trapper out who worked quickly to get the gator out of the water and hauled away.

Evans and her family do live near a pond but their yard is completely fenced in.

Neighbors told CBS12 News they are already discussing ways to make their yards more secure and will be checking for alligators before they let their children or pets outside.

It is the beginning of alligator mating season so gators might be venturing out more to find a mate.

Call the Nuisance Alligator hotline at 866-392-4286 to report an issue with an unwanted alligator.
