Baker was looking at life in prison, but because his accusers were greedy he is going to get off and their lawyer is the one who is going to jail.
Quite a turn of events.
The attorney for three of the four men former Giants cornerback DeAndre Baker allegedly robbed was arrested Monday morning in conjunction with an alleged extortion attempt.
William Dean was arrested in Florida, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. He is a name partner at Ford, Dean & Rotundo and represents Julius Lamar, Tommy Hartshaw and Steven Compton — the three men who recanted statements against Baker last week.
Dean and his clients demanded $1.5 million from Baker and negotiated the number down to $800,000 in order to change their statements, but no money ever changed hands, a source with knowledge of the situation told The Post. The sheriff’s office declined further comment during an ongoing investigation, but the source says they were involved in the set-up from the beginning.
Baker was released by Giants when it appeared he was going to go to jail for a while.
He was accused of robbing men at gunpoint who had hustled him in a card game.
Crazy times.
